Our neighborhood: - The shopping district two blocks from our house has a great grocery store (deli counter, butcher, fresh produce, fresh-baked bread and all the usual staples); restaurants (Italian, Thai, Chinese, Brazilian, Mexican taqueria, Japanese ramen/sushi, gourmet pizza); two coffee shops serving breakfast and lunch; two cafes for espresso drinks; a cheese store with deli counter for sandwiches; a hardware store; a public library; and a quirky bookstore that has poetry readings and jazz recitals on a regular basis. - Glen Canyon is a 70-acre park 3 blocks away with tennis courts, playground, recreation center (basketball courts and climbing wall), playing fields (baseball, soccer, frisbee), picnic areas and hiking trails (including a portion of the Crosstown Trail). - The Glen Park BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station is in the “village”. BART trains run to downtown San Francisco (9-minute trip) as well as to other cities in the Bay Area, including Berkeley and Oakland. Since the BART station is also a transit hub, Glen Park is served by five different bus routes and a light rail line. - We are within walking distance of the Mission District, Bernal Heights and Noe Valley. Us: A retired/semi-retired couple with about 25 years of home exchanges in the US, UK and Europe. We have family and friends in and around NYC and go there several times a year. We also love Paris and would welcome an exchange there. We are flexible as to timing.
