The home is a cozy, fully renovated, furnished Craftsman house in a lovely corner of San Diego. The space is ideal for one person, or a couple. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove and oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, with plenty of counter space. There is also a full sized washer and dryer in the hall by the bathroom. The tidy living room provides an excellent space to relax, listen to music, and bask in the warm afternoon light. The front porch is an even better space to enjoy gorgeous sunsets, or to watch the humming birds and butterflies dart and flit between the native and drought resistant flowers in the garden. One of the two bedrooms is currently setup as an office with a standing desk. The room could be adjusted to accommodate a crib or full sized bed. The other bedroom has a comfortable queen sized bed and large windows to enjoy the morning sunrise. The home has a central heating and air conditioning system controlled by a smart thermostat. There is a robust and reliable WiFi network that can easily accommodate video calls, streaming and other online activities. The backyard is fully enclosed and hidden away from the surrounding homes. There is space to stretch out and do yoga on the artificial lawn, or to read and sip wine under an umbrella. With mint and rosemary growing along the fence, it's a lovely spot to gather garnish for, and to eat dinner. Located on the northern edge of North Park the home is walking distance from many restaurants (including a Michelin starred sushi restaurant), parks, shopping, bars, and other amenities. The quiet streets make the area a walkers' paradise (Walkability score of 93), as well as wonderful for bicycling. There are two bike shops within walking distance, and multiple bike lanes and routes throughout the area. The neighborhood is also well serviced by public transit, with a direct route to SDSU, and several routes to Hillcrest, Balboa Park, and downtown San Diego. The home is also only a 15 minute drive from the airport, and has quick access to several highways. The home has a private driveway for parking should you have access to a car. Water, internet, trash pickup, and once-monthly yard care are all included. Gas and electric are not, but will typically run about $100 a month Sept-Dec (the house usually stays comfortable in those months without heat or AC). We can also put you in touch with our housecleaner, who charges $90/visit. We're hoping to find someone who doesn't mind watering our indoor and porch plants while we're away (the yard is on a rain-sensitive automatic watering system). No other care beyond just keeping the house in reasonable condition would be expected. About us: We are a SDSU Chemistry professor (Chris) and an English teacher (Anna) who will be in Amsterdam for Chris's sabbatical in autumn of 2024. Chris is originally from Montreal, and Anna grew up in Colorado and lived in Chicago and New York before moving to Southern California. When we're not working or reading, we love outdoor activities, exploring our lovely neighborhood, and relaxing in our sweet home.
