My husband is a professor at Thompson Rivers University. I am retired and enjoy hiking and yoga and exploring new places. We have lived abroad in Asia and Europe and are comfortable adapting to new locations. Ideally, we would like an exchange of 3 months or longer, although would consider shorter or longer exchanges, depending on the location. We have two adult children living in Ontario, and it would be nice if they could visit us for a week or so at a time. We are happy to look after plants, or a cat and would treat your home with respect and care. Our home is located on the top floor of a 4 story, brand new condo, conveniently located on the Thompson Rivers University campus in Kamloops. Our balcony affords sweeping views of the Thompson rivers and surrounding mountains. The building has underground parking, an elevator and a roof top patio. The condo has white oak flooring throughout, and is equipped with all essentials, new furnishings and a gas fireplace for your comfort. On the large partially covered balcony, the deluxe BBQ with outdoor couch and dining table extend the options for your relaxation and dining enjoyment. Netflix, and Prime available on large screen. Bose speaker for music. All on one level, this unit is ideally suitable for individuals, couples. There is a king bed in the master bedroom and a fold out queen bed in a small den. Located minutes from downtown, and walking distance to restaurants, groceries, and shopping, the location is perfect for anyone travelling without a car. Walking distance to the Tournament Capital Recreation centre with indoor and outdoor tracks, swimming pools , basketball and fitness centres. Adjacent with Kenna Cartwright Park, multiple trails for hiking and biking. Riverside park alongside the Thompson River for walking and water activities. Free outdoor summer concerts in the park Close to Peterson Creek trails, and McArthur Island Park and Juniper Ridge bike park. Convenient home base for skiing, cross country or snow shoeing in the winter. Kamloops is home to several grassland parks and hiking trails, and is half an hour to Paul Lake provincial park. Sun Peaks ski resort, open winter and summer is a one hour drive. Kamloops lake and the stunning Tobiano golf course on the edge of Kamloops lake is 20 min away. Kelowna is 2 hours by car through stunning scenery with approx. 40 wineries, some of the best in BC. Vernon is close by with only a 90 min drive. Revelstoke, a lovely town summer and winter is 2 1/2 hours away, with its giant cedars boardwalk trail to see old growth forests up close. Wells Gray park is 1 1/2 hours drive with numerous waterfalls and trails for hiking - makes a full day trip, and finally Vancouver is only 4 hours away, with regular ferry options to go to Victoria /Vancouver Island.
