House in Idyllic Itoshima

Our home is available for the 24/25AY while we take a sabbatical year in Cambridge, MA. We live in a quiet neighborhood that is close to public transportation, public schools, grocery stores, and restaurants. Our house has three bedrooms with an additional Japanese-style room that can be used as an extra bedroom, office, or yoga studio. Our property has a variety of fruit (persimmon, fig, plums, loquat, olive) and flowering trees (sakura, magnolia), Japanese maples, a bamboo grove, perennial flowers, bushes (blueberry, rosemary, and azalia), and plenty of yard for kids. Gardeners are welcome to cultivate a space. Scenic walks in both directions: it abuts rice paddies to the west and a river lined with cherry blossom trees to the east. Kyushu University is 15-minute bike ride (4.9k alongside rice paddies), the bus to campus is a 3 min walk, and the train station (Hatae) is a 10 min walk. Itoshima is a beautiful area with lots of nature, surrounding mountains, scenic Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines, and a pristine coastline. It's famous for its produce (there's a great farmer's market nearby) and oysters. Monocle Magazine recently rated Itoshima #3 for most livable small cities in the world (link below). We are on the outskirts of Fukuoka City, a vibrant regional city with fine food, cultural sites, and an ecologically balanced lifestyle. Fukuoka frequently appears in top-ten lists of the world’s most livable cities. It was recently featured in the NYT travel section (link below).
