Exchange only: sunny, historical flat in Berlin for Bay Area 2024-2025

We are a German-American family. Sarah is originally from Seattle, and Gerald is a native Berliner. We are both IT managers and very active in sports (cycling, trail running). Our teenage daughter is in the Bay Area for medical treatment, and we are expecting to need to stay for 6 months to a year or more. We’d prefer a location in San Francisco or Santa Cruz, but we could probably make other CA locations work. Our home in Berlin is a beautiful, original 19th century Altbau. High ceilings with original plaster, hardwood plank floors throughout. Sunny and spacious. Newly renovated kitchen with dining niche and exposed brick. Comfortable living room with sleeper sofa, dining area and balcony.. Sunny, dedicated room for work and gym. Weights, mats, smart TV and Wahoo bike trainer available. The main bedroom is sunny and very quiet, with a king size bed. The second bedroom is shown in the photos and has exquisite original floral plaster on the ceiling. It faces north to the street, and has a queen size bed. We live on a historical street in a lively West-Berliner neighborhood, with many restaurants, bakeries, bars, coffee shops, and shopping right outside the front door. S-Bahn Friedenau is directly across the square. We can provide various bicycles. Berlin-Mitte, Kreuzberg, City-West are easily reachable by bike or public transportation. Hi-speed internet with scanner/printer. Living room and gym with TVs/Apple TVs. Teufel speaker network.. Phillips smart lights in 4 rooms. We have three cats. Our preference would probably be to take them with us. Ideally we would exchange with a cat-loving Californian family, and we could decide together the best arrangement for the felines. A dog would be ok (but not together with the cats!).
