Valencia Hacienda: quiet, artistic home near UNM
Welcome to Valencia Hacienda, a guest suite designed in an artistic, Southwestern style. Our private, separate, and recently renovated guest suite is centrally located in Albuquerque: It's a 15 minute drive (or less) to pretty much any place you plan on visiting, whether it be dining at Los Poblanos in North Valley, hiking in the Sandia Mountains, heading to the airport, or checking out the art galleries downtown.
In the case of UNM, we're a mere 7 minute drive from campus.
In the 90s, the part of the house in which you'll be staying was added onto the original house because the previous owner was a photographer who wanted his own darkroom and photography studio. It's since been extensively renovated and is now a guest quarters.
The artistic sensibility of the place is very much alive today--I'm an oil painter, and many of the paintings hanging up are those I've painted--and my sense is that it's something that our guests can feel and appreciate.
The bedroom was initially part of the main house. The thick archway that takes you to the guest suite's living room was once the exterior wall to the house. Because of this, there's no bedroom door, but the room is completely separate from the rest of the guest suite AND it's been sealed off from the main house.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a full size refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee maker, electric kettle, microwave, and hot plate--though please note that there is no oven. There are plenty of cooking utensils and other essentials for cooking (on the hot plate) and making meals.
