Two stops away from Harvard Sq.! 7-min. Walk to Alewife T! 2 Bedroom and 1 Sunroom Home with Parking!

We are pleased to offer the first floor of an owner-occupied two-family house in East Arlington, MA. Your unit has two bedrooms, one sunroom (which could be used as an office/guest room or a bedroom), a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom. There are beds for up to 8 people but we recommend no more than 4 or 5 to live in the unit. On the side of the house is a shared driveway and a carport where you can park your car!

The kitchen and bath went through a gut renovation in 2015 and are furnished with new appliances, including stove, refrigerator, dish washer, microwave, washer and dryer. The entire unit has been winterized in 2017 with insulation and new windows. In 2016, a new hot water and heating system were installed to provide central heat and AC.

The house is conveniently located: It is 7 minutes walking distance from either the MBTA Red Line’s Alewife Station or the #77 bus on Massachusetts Ave. It is also a minute away from the Minuteman Bikeway for those who enjoy getting out on their bikes or going for long walks. The nearest elementary school is the Hardy School, just 3 minutes away on foot. Our house is flanked by Magnolia Park, which has recently been renovated with a new playground, a community garden, a basketball court and a picnic area, to the south, and the Minuteman Bikeway and Thorndike Field to the west. A mile down the Bikeway to the north are Spy Pond and Arlington Center, and to the south are Cambridge and Davis Sq., Somerville. It is easy to commute to Harvard, MIT and MGH by bicycle or the Red Line.

The house is ideally located for all sorts of interests and activities. There are numerous eateries, cafes, shops, and a movie theater all a walking distance away. You will not have to look far to enjoy the amenities of living in a big city, but without the noise, hassle and congestion. Our neighborhood is quiet and safe. Your unit will provide a comfortable home for a family of four or five looking for convenience, safety, and a family-friendly environment.

This party posted the following feedback for me:
'Katherine is an amazing friend and colleague - we've known each other for many years through the Cambridge parent community, we share children in the same school and have seen them grow and mature through the years. Katherine has always been a very thoughtful, honest, and responsible person, a true friend. She's worked as a fitness instructor over the years, and is very inspiring and motivating to her students. More recently, I worked with Katherine and Eric on designing their new home in Arlington; they're a lovely couple who are open to dialogue, discussion, and creative solutions, always searching for answers that challenge the status quo. I fully support and recommend Katherine as a sabbaticalhomes member!'

About Me
I am a mother of two boys (16 and 11), an artist, and a fitness instructor. Previously, I developed affordable housing in the Boston and Cambridge areas. In my various roles, I aspire to bring joy and lift people up from their daily grind. I am passionate about telling stories through whatever means necessary: art, food, dance, fashion, and writing. I am trilingual in English, Japanese and Korean. I have lived in very large cities in the past and so I love living in this area (Arlington/Cambridge) because of the easy access to all things a first-rate city offers, with much less hassle.

The short story: these are the best landlords ever! We have lived here for half a year now and have about half a year left to rent before we head back home. The landlords Kathrine and Eric have met us with outstanding helpfulness and hospitality even from before we arrived. Communication is excellent and we can contact them whenever we feel like. They are simply awesome. It will be sad leaving. Regarding the location of the apartment, we find this the best area close to Boston, especially if you are a family. We have lived in East Arlington both times we have been in Boston for sabbaticals. Even if we work at MIT and Northeastern University, we prefer living a little bit outside the busy downtown areas. Commuting by bike to both places takes about 25-40 minutes (my husband has actually biked the whole year). East Arlington is quiet and safe but still has a lot to offer. The apartment is located in a quiet and safe street, facing a large recreational area with a playground at one end. Here you can play a lot of games, soccer, frisbee, etc. On the backside of the house is a nice and sunny porch and the garden allows you to have a grill and keep your bikes safe. From this house, you are close to commuting down to Cambridge and Boston by the subway or by bus, close to commuting to Arlington High school and Middle School by bus (our oldest daughter takes the bus every morning), really close to the elementary school (our youngest girl walks by herself every day), close to the highway if you are heading somewhere during the weekend, right on the Minuteman bike path taking you all the way up to Bedford, close to cinema, cafes and restaurants. This apartment has everything you want and need during your stay in Boston. It is fully equipped with all the furniture and household items you need and it has a high standard. You will no doubt enjoy living here for your sabbatical! Excellent Beate Garcia 2/3/2017 9:40:00 AM
