After looking at dozens of short-term/flexible rentals, my spouse and I found this absolute gem, staying here for several months while doing renovations on our home. We came to realize that what seemed like a remarkable find was: It is the perfect place to stay. Sunny, quiet, clean and well maintained, and nicely renovated and decorated, the apartment has everything you need to be comfortable. This became even more apparent a few months into our stay as we put the apartment’s comforts to the test, living and working here during the coronavirus lockdown: The WiFi is fast and reliable. The kitchen has all the equipment needed to cook and bake (and we already did a lot of both). The air-conditioner keeps the apartment cool in the summer (and the apartment stays cozily warm in the winter). The mattress is comfortable. The backyard allows you to get fresh air and relax in the sun. The apartment has a private entrance. But it’s the details, too, that really mattered: There’s a rack for your shoes and a place to hang your coats in the hall, a vacuum, reading lights on each side of the bed, unobtrusive recycling bins tucked away, organizers for your keys and and daily life, and it’s clear that all your needs have been thought about. As others have said, it’s just a really nice place to be, calm and peaceful.

Having previously lived in a different part of Brooklyn, Bed-Stuy was new to us, and we enjoyed getting to know the neighborhood. It has leafy blocks that are pleasant to walk down and nice parks nearby, lots of still-thriving restaurants and access to food delivery through Fresh Direct’s on-demand service and Whole Foods, and many nearby stores. When I was commuting, it was convenient to be equidistant to both the A/C and J/Z trains, not to mention the convenience of the B26 bus for getting to other parts of Brooklyn. Also, our neighbors are really nice.

Most important of all, the owners are thoughtful, reasonable, and responsive. They were there if we needed them but otherwise gave us complete privacy.

In sum, it was such a pleasure staying here that it made not being in our home during a challenging time feel like a safe and comfortable respite, and we will miss it.

We have really enjoyed and loved renting this apartment! It is fully furnished, has a high standard with newly renovated large rooms. The kitchen is modern and spacious, and there is a really nice garden. It is close to restaurants, cafes, laundromat and a good grocery store. The area is calm and quiet, less than 10 min walk to the metro. The landlords are very helpful and generous. We felt at home from the first day! We can highly recommend you to stay here! Jamila's place is lovely. She did an outstanding job renovating the ground floor of this Bed Stuy brownstone. The apartment is spacious and tastefully decorated. Having outdoor space (with a top notch grill!) is a real plus. The neighborhood also has excellent restaurants and bars. Jamila is also a lovely person to deal with. She could not have been a more thoughtful or helpful host/landlord! Excellent kbalkoski 3/28/2017 6:35:00 PM
I stayed at Jamila's apartment in Bed-Stuy from October-December 2017. I had a really enjoyable visit. It was great to get to know the neighbourhood. There are good bars and restaurants within easy reach, a smallish Key supermarket a few blocks away, a larger one on Broadway near the subway station, and a launderette round the corner. The apartment was something of a haven, peaceful, clean and nicely arranged, and easy to cook and eat in. The Wifi was updated while I was staying, with good connectivity. The TV is for streaming channels. The images on the site don't show the bathroom, which is clean and straightforward, with a bath/shower, sink and toilet. The apartment leads onto the garden. I didn't use this (other than to dry some washing one day), but it would be great in warm weather. Jamila and Aurore were very friendly and helpful, and on hand if I needed anything (they live in the upper stories of the house), but they also gave me space and left me to get on with things (and the apartment has its own entrance). I was working in midtown Manhattan, which took about 45-50 minutes depending on the trains, longer once or twice when there was a delay. Good access to other parts of Brooklyn and downtown, with buses and subway lines. Overall a great place to stay over a sabbatical, and I'd love to go back. Excellent Andy 3/27/2017 11:23:00 AM
