Pretty Victorian terrace house, Bethnal Green/Whitechapel. Rent includes all utilities, gardener and cleaner.

The whole house is available at a rent of £1800 per month, but there may be an option of renting the front bedroom only, with the rear bedroom used for occasional overnight stays by members of our family, at a lower rent (£1300 per month). The sitting room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom would be shared on the rare occasions when the rear bedroom was used by us. Please enquire for more details if this option interests you.

The house is in a conservation area, at the end of a small terrace built around 1830. It sits at the junction of 2 streets. Accommodation is on 3 floors. The top floor has 2 bedrooms, both with double beds, and a bathroom with lavatory, bath, shower (over bath), washbasin and heated towel rail. On the main floor (a short flight of steps above street level) there is an open plan sitting room leading through a wide arch to a smaller sitting room or study with original panelling. From there, stairs lead down to a semi basement where there is a breakfast room and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a modern electric hob and oven, a washing machine, refrigerator and fitted cupboards. Central heating and hot water are from a modern gas boiler in the breakfast room. There is a rear door opening into an attractive, secluded walled garden with a well-secured side door leading to the street. The front gate from the street opens into a small front garden with steps up to the front door. All the windows have secondary glazing.

The space would be suitable for a couple, with or without a child or additional person.

The house is comfortably furnished, mostly with items that we or our family have chosen and have lived with for years. The style is eclectic (see photos).

The house is very conveniently situated with a 5 minute walk to Stepney Green tube, 10 minute walk to Bethnal Green tube, and the Overground at Whitechapel and 15 minute walk to the DLR at Bow Church. Nearby bus stops serve many routes including frequent buses to Central London. There is also a bike scheme docking station 300 metres away.

It is a 10 minute walk to Queen Mary College and an easy journey to The British Library, The British Museum and all London Universities. Close by are charming Victoria Park and The Grand Union Canal and towpath.

The Olympic Park and Westfield shopping mall at Stratford are approximately two miles to the east.

Brick Lane, historic Spitalfields and The V & A Museum of Childhood are nearby.The area is interesting and lively with good restaurants, an award winning cinema, a City Farm with cafe and an interesting choice of shops.

The rent includes all linens and bedding, a weekly cleaner and monthly gardener, utilities, WiFi and the use of the landline for weekend and evening calls within the UK. Your possessions would not be covered by our insurance.

We ask for references and a deposit of one month's rent in advance is required.

About Me
I am a retired former Senior Lecturer and Honorary Clinical Consultant in Clinical Genetics at the University of Southampton, UK. My wife and I lived in the USA between 1976 and 1978. We have lived in Winchester, UK, for the last 38 years. The London house in which we are advertising accommodation is held in trust for our four children, all of whom lived there during their student or early career stages.

We spent a very pleasant three months renting this home in Bethnal Green. You are very much in the middle of London here—the commute to the British Library, the Wellcome Collection Library, and many other major cultural and academic institutions, is direct and fast. The place itself is comfortable, secure, tidy and warm. Nick and Caroline were good communicators; always available to take calls or emails. A word that if you have mobility issues this may not be the one for you—as with many places in London, the shower is over the bathtub and the staircases are steep. But otherwise, we can't recommend a better short-to-mid-term stay in the city. Five stars from two Australians. Excellent Rebecca Giggs 9/19/2017 10:41:00 AM
81 Globe Road is a very convenient place for a single person or a couple new to London, needing a place to settle in on a short term lease. It is conveniently located with Stepney Green tube station only 5 minutes walk away and Benthal Green Station only a short bus ride away - one can be in Central London within 15-20 minutes. The flat is spacious with very efficient central heating and excellent facilities including a washing machine, bathtub and separate kitchen/dining area. Supermarkets are also conveniently located close by as well as parks and cafes. The landlords Nick and Caroline are super friendly and were extremely supportive in allowing us to feel settled in their flat.
