Large Apartment in North Brooklyn
I am looking to sublet our apartment for 10-12 months (flexible on start and end dates) starting in mid-August or so.
We are in Greenpoint, really close to McGolrick Park, less than a block away. The apartment is a two-bedroom railroad apartment and it's huge for NYC. It's a top floor apartment in a three-story building with 6 apartments total. The five other neighbors are all amazing and have been conscious of wearing masks and staying safe. I'm looking to sublet it with the furniture but I am very flexible and can remove certain items and place them in storage as you like (I'll write more about our situation after describing the apartment!).
The apartment itself is composed of a kitchen/dining, living room, 2 bedrooms, and one bathroom. The second bedroom is currently my child's bedroom and could easily be converted into a gigantic office space. We have two well designed electric standing desks, one is currently in the master bedroom and the other in the second, but can easily be moved to be combined.
Our kitchen is gigantic and has plenty of appliances, including a dishwasher, breville smart oven (which we use more than our regular oven), a breville stand mixer, a cuisinart processor, waffle maker, espresso machine, juicer, etc... We cook a lot so it was important to have a large kitchen.
The G is an 8-minute walk away, which is very convenient, to either Nassau or Norman. The park is right close to us, and McCarren Park is also a quick walk, about 15 min away. The new greenpoint library is a few blocks down, a 5 min walk and will be opening soon. We also have two bikes that we would be willing to leave for you to use, if you would like. There is a local bakery that is a 3 min walk, plenty of delicious food, amazing grocery stores with quality produce (and affordable!) in the neighborhood I would be more than happy to point you to.
re. washer/dryer: When we signed our lease, our landlord had agreed to install a washer and dryer, but there has been a few complications with licensing in the basement and due to the pandemic that has been pushed. We currently use a laundromat that is three blocks away, with our wagon, it's been pretty easy, but we are still waiting for the washer/dryer as that would be easier for sure.
Rent is $2,791/month (which is our rent and we are not charging extra for the furniture). We would ask for a 1-month deposit to be returned upon end of the sublet.
Both my husband and I are academics and can teach online and have decided to leave for the academic year to be in California, where we have family and where we just moved from in November. We still haven't had a chance to hang our frames up, so you would be welcome to add your own frames/decor/make the apartment feel like your style. All the furniture is new, we actually just bought a few reading sofas and a beautiful 88-key electric piano, which we would like to keep in the apartment.
I am happy to answer any questions you might have. We will be returning in summer 2021 and will need the apartment back then. If this sounds interesting, we can do facetime/whatever video conferencing call to go over the apartment in detail. I would also like to ask for proof of employment and ask you to sign a sublet agreement. Our landlords are so kind and have allowed us to do this sublet, so it is completely legal.
