Charming one bedroom in Paris, Saint-Germain-des-Près

Charming one bedroom (studio) in a XVIII century house in Paris, Saint-Germain- des- Près, with old beams and comfort (washing machine, dishwasher, electric cooker with four burners and oven, microwave oven,TV, big bathtub). The location is one of the most beautiful in Paris : near the Louvre, Notre-Dame, Luxembourg garden, Seine river and pont des Arts, librairies, art galeries, cafés... Buses, metro (3 stations), "Velib" (rent a bike), Autolib' (rent an electric car). Supermarkets and shops around the corner.

Perfect for a single person or a couple, the apartment (40 m2, first floor,13 steps) has a new large bed (120 cm) and one single(sofa). Bed and household linen are provided.
It is simple (no luxurious kitchen gadgets),warm and secure.
Because of the beams, the ceiling is not very high but quite convenient for a "normal" person ..

High speed internet (wifi), printer.
No pets, no plants.

Available for a rental (at least a week) or a swap, even non simultaneous. Rates for longer periods negotiable.
Open to all propositions (especially with Italy and Europe) except for a long term swap (more than a month ..).
More pictures upon request.

I found this flat uninhabitable. The description of this flat on Sabbatical Homes is misrepresented - is it not one bedroom, it is a studio with the ceiling touching my head in many places, a huge beam that is about 4 feet from the floor that runs through the middle of the studio. You have to bend very far down to go under the beam to walk from one side of the studio to the other. I banged my head so many times I had to go to the pharmacy for medicine for a chronic headache. The bathroom ceiling is so low that no one can stand up in the tub to use the shower head. You have to bend over. You cannot even raise you arm over your head to use a hair dryer without hitting a beam. I am 5'6' tall and in many parts of this studio my head touched the ceiling beams, as well as the door frame. And the place is not clean. I have photos to back up everything I say. I had to move out. I asked for a refund stating the misrepresentation and the fact that the ceiling height makes it unlivable and not standard according to French law for measuring floor space under a roof. The owner was rude and refused to refund. I moved anyway unable to live there any longer, and took the loss. judith ------------------

Reply from lister: I am a member of Sabbatical since September, 2008, and I think that at least 30 visitors came to my apartment in Paris, rue Mazarine. Some of them liked it so much that they came 2 or 3 times again. Nobody found it "uninhabitable",and Mrs Merians is the first one who complains about a lot of things. - First, about"one bedroom".I wrote in my description : (studio) between bracket. - About low ceiling: Yes, one of the beams, big and low (classified by the french Service of historical monuments), makes you bend when you go from one part of the apartment to another one. It's the specificity of my place, which is a private apartment, not a hotel. I doubt that you ever find a room for 70 euros per night in the heart of Saint-Germain- des-Près. -The shower : I wrote with « a big bathtube », not" with a shower". The small shower goes with the bathtube to clean it... - The money : Mrs Merians send me a small amount to confirm the reservation. When she came to my so "uninhabitable" place, she could say she did not want to rent it without giving me any money. She did, and when, a week later, she told me that she intend to leave and wants her money back, I refused. The agreement was made, it was up to her if she decides to stay or leave... I would like to add that I left the apartment perfectly clean, all machines, hot water, Wi- Fi, tv, in order, and that when I came, I am sorry to say, but...I found dirty toilet paper in a basket, not in the toilet bowl, etc. I am very sorry for that incident, after so many years.
