A Seventeenth Century Flat in Central Prague

This is a sensitively renovated spacious flat in a seventeenth century house in the historical centre of Prague (Prague 2), next to the university botanical garden, available for rent or for a home exchange.
Our Prague quarter was founded in 1348 by emperor Charles IV. and its southern part, where our flat is situated, offers plenty of greenery in the midst of a historical setting. There are several gardens in our immediate vicinity.
The flat is fully furnished and consists of a large living room with an adjacent fully equipped kitchen, a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a children's bedroom, a small study/guestroom (with extra double bed) and a family bathroom with a bathtub. Both bathrooms have a bidet and underfloor heating. The apartment has wooden (oak) floors, historical windows and a courtyard balcony (the so called Pawlatche with historical elements). Everything is in walking distance (including many tram lines and underground lines). The place is centrally located (12 min. by foot to Wenceslas Sq., 5 min to Antonin Dvorak museum in an 18th c. villa). At the same time the area is quiet, peaceful and off the main tourist tracks. The nearby Botanical garden of the Charles University and historical Vyšehrad fortress offer plenty of greenery and opportunities to relax. The house has a historical stone staircase and a modern lift. The apartment can be easily accessed with a pushchair or a wheelchair. The adjacent Botanical garden is accessible for free and ideal for a run, walk or reading.

This flat is our home. Please, be aware that we cannot accept smokers and pets. We welcome inquiries with a bit of courteous introduction about your stay and plans.

About Me
I am a senior scholar at Charles University in Prague and a parent of two small children. While I have conducted research in Italy, England and German speaking countries I am also a member of the post-velvet revolution generation in the Czech Republic (and belong to the 1970s babyboomers - the so called Husák´s children). I am very committed to an idealist project of making the "other Europe" a better place for life, work and future. I appreciate Sabbatical Homes as a platform to share and exchange our much beloved home in Prague and I believe Prague will get under your skin just as it did get under ours. In 2020 and 2021 we are particularly hoping to arrange a swap with places where one can easily work in libraries and/or places at the seaside as our older daughter has an atopic eczema and has just learnt to swim.

This beautiful apartment in Prague is the perfect place to stay with a family. The design of the building is both historic and contemporary, and the location puts you in a real Prague neighbourhood, but within walking distance of the tourist area. This was the perfect place to spend a week getting to know the city! Excellent Lisa Kisch 7/8/2020 12:18:00 AM
This is an excellent apartment. Spacious, beautifully furnished, with well equipped kitchen and everything one needs to feel at home. Great location and very nice and supportive landlords. I spent wonderful six months in this apartment and highly recommend and highly recommend it. Good heating too if you are coming during the winter. Excellent Verica 1/18/2019 4:32:00 AM
