Cambridge Victorian Charmer by the River Cam

Our cosy and inviting Victorian terraced home will be available for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years, from late-December through early-January. Located in a quiet neighbourhood one block from the River Cam, it's a stone's throw from Midsummer Common, many stores and shops and Anglia Ruskin University, it's also just a 15-minute walk to central Cambridge sites such as Kings College, Trinity and St John's College (amongst many others!). A 15-minute walk in the opposite direction gets you to the train station. Slightly further afield (a short bike ride or bus ride) is Addenbrooke's Hospital, the Cambridge Science Park and other research campuses.

The upstairs of the house has one comfortable double bedroom with queen sized bed and TV with Sky, one small bedroom, generally used as an office but which also has a futon that turns into a comfortable single bed (or can even be used as a small double) and a large bathroom featuring an inviting clawfoot tub and separate box shower. The downstairs has two bright reception rooms, one of which has a large sofa (which can turn into a double bed) and TV with Sky, and a galley kitchen. There's lots of sunlight throughout both floors and a private garden to the back of the house.

Our two lovely dogs and friendly cat and are staying behind while we will be out of town. The cat needs feeding once a day and the occasional cuddle, and that's about it. The dogs need twice daily feeding, to be let out to the garden and/or taken on walks for the bathroom and exercise and to be shown a bit of affection. One of the dogs is elderly and so he sleeps most of the day. The other dog is one year old, overall she is well behaved but can be playful and occasionally a little naughty so dog know-how is a must.

Because there is a good deal of pet care involved, the rent is set at £0.

About Me
I'm an American who's been living in Cambridge for 4 years, in London for 3 years before that and in Rome for 6 years before that. I love to travel (particularly to hot - Mediterranean or tropical, places). I work at the Wellcome Genome Campus (aka Wellcome Sanger Institute) on the Society and Ethics Research team.

Our experience renting this Cambridge home for three weeks in August 2019 was quite exceptional in every way. The owners, L & L, were kind and gracious and provided a thorough orientation which facilitated our stay in their home and in the city of Cambridge. The home was conveniently located such that we were quite close to all of the places we needed to go. L&L also went a step further and welcomed my daughter to stay with them an extra two weeks until her university flat was ready. We have no complaints at all about our first Sabbatical Homes.com experience and will use the site in the future and recommend it to others. Excellent Jennifer 11/24/2019 6:53:00 PM
