Many lovely pubs, restaurants, cafes, boutiques and several supermarkets (e.g. Waitrose, Sainsburys and Marks & Spencer) are located in Putney High Street which is 2-3 minutes walk. There are also several parks and a river-side path for walking, biking or jogging all the way to Richmond and Kew Gardens.

The flat is one minute's walk to the River Thames and is the starting location of the historic Oxford vs. Cambridge Boat Race (http://www.theboatrace.org).
The Putney Embankment where generations of Putney children have fed the ducks is another minute's walk.
Putney is in London Transport's Zone 2. The nearest underground station is Putney Bridge (District Line) which is a 4 minutes walk over the lovely Putney Bridge with spectacular views of the historic Putney Embankment, Bishops Park and the 15th Century St Mary's Church (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Mary%27s_Church,_Putney).
Central London and the West End (e.g. South Kensington for Imperial College and many of the major museums) is only 15 mins away by tube. King's College and the LSE are about 20 minutes by tube.
Several buses stop on Putney Bridge which is 2 minutes walk from the flat. From there you can take a number of buses to Central London e.g. the number 14 bus which goes through Fulham, South Kensington, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Piccadilly and Bloomsbury.
