About Me
Charlotte divides her time between Mexico and the Bay Area, teaching critical pedagogy in an alternative Bachelor Completion Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. Her research at EcoSur (Colegio de la Frontera Sur) in Chiapas, studies how the Zapatista movement engages global civil society in a mutual teaching and learning process that involves generations forward and back. She works on building transnational local solidarity through popular co-education initiatives between food producers, activist scholars, and organizers across these territories. Her over-arching interest in critical liberatory practices include the knowledges and social movements involved in sustainable food production, community feminisms, and alternative media.

We've been living in this house for the past year and have nothing but great things to report about the neighborhood, the space and the owners!

The owners are quick to respond to issues and are extremely thoughtful and generous in their repairs and problem solving.

The Oakmore neighborhood is quiet and quaint. The house is perched high up with only the school grounds of Head Royce across the street, so it feels like you are out in the country, not in the middle of Oakland.

At night, the view from the spare bedroom window of the Morman temple lit up is a wonderful sight and you can watch full moons rise from the comfort of the living room couch.

Previous owners managed to update the space without sacrificing the 1940's charming original details like the hardwood floors, windows & hardware, but the real knockout is the recently updated stunning backyard with rotating blooming flowers, a fountain & views of the Bay.

If we weren't finished with our contract in Oakland, we definitely would've stayed put. We will think back fondly on our time here in Oakland and this adorable house!
