Description

Southern Gulf Islands oceanfront cottage on 3.5 acres of very private property, with dock & deep water moorage, facing south-SW on Bedwell Harbour, near Poet's Cove immediately next to the Southern Gulf Islands National Park, a a marine park, formerly called 'Beaumont Marine Park' and 5 min by boat from Poet's Cove & the first customs inside CDN water. Google location may sometimes be imperfect. You won't be sharing this space with anyone other than those in your party and some wildlife & birds. Full rates details see our website by link below. The monthly rates apply only from the Wed or Thurs post CDN Thanksgiving until the end of April; or by mutual agreement. Otherwise, weekly rates as posted on the website apply but we may discount for sabbatical homes requests, even in peak season for bookings of 2+ weeks. Peak season rates apply at Xmas/New Year. The Gulf Islands, including Pender are in the Strait of Georgia & are easily accessed by ferry from Tsawwassen on the Vancouver side, or from Swartz Bay on the Vancouver Island side. Or, you may choose to arrive via float plane, a 15 min flight from downtown Vancouver, or from Richmond (South Terminal) or from Seattle. For those flying from Calgary or Edmonton, consider using the Victoria airport, at Sidney, approx 5 minutes from Swartz Bay terminal & an only 40 min ferry ride to Otter Bay on Pender Island. This 3 level cottage with 2 large decks, a covered lower deck & an open upper level deck. The lower deck has a large antique iron bathtub. There is also a 3rd small deck at the shaded entrance. The ocean side is sunny, with shade options. Great night skies & fabulous sunsets! The sleeping loft & lower level bedroom have comfortable queen beds. Some cottage use restrictions may apply, details provided at the time of your request. Excellent hikes to the peak of Mt. Norman (45 min from Ainslie Point Rd) with spectacular views towards Vancouver, the other Gulf Islands, the American San Juans & Vancouver Island. Another hike, is to the Marine Park, again 40 or 45 min along the harbour. Lots of outdoor activities locally such as cycling, golfing, frisby golf, boating, sailing, whalewatching, kayaking etc. or hang out on the deck & watch the amazing night sky. Pender Island has a mild climate, has only 17% of Vancouver's rainfall & is warmer with more sun. This property gets the last rays of sun on the island. Meteorite showers are common & the night sky is the special treat on the many clear evenings. Available by the week at the peak season rates (May - mid Oct. & Xmas -New Year & Spring Break; also by the week at separate seasonal rates during the fall -spring; & by the month ($2950) as described above, for 3+ month. Peak rates apply over Xmas, New Years and Spring Break. State clearly that you found us on Sabbatical Homes & you may be eligible for discounted rates. We are open to renting for any reasonable time period during the fall & winter. Weekly rates are all inclusive. The monthly rate does not include utiliities. Our cottage & property, and Pender are the perfect setting for writing or a thesis or simply, a great escape! Pender Island is a 'happening'community with gift & book stores, wine & beer stores, liquor stores, bakery/deli, restaurants, cafés, gas station, seasonal farmers' market, a library, lots of artists, a gym, shopping centre, pubs at Browning Harbour & at Poet's Cove on Bedwell Harbour. The cottage is most suited for couples & is especially popular with honeymooners or singles wishing a quiet, private retreat in a spectacular waterfront setting. Families are welcome, but occupancy is 4 persons. Lots of wildlife - eagles, herons, seals, otter, hummingbirds & a resident pod of orcas. Wood stove & propane heat; equipped kitchen - fridge, stove, microwave; freezer; dock & deep water moorage, deck at the water's edge. Eat crab caught fresh off the dock! Non-smokers only. No pets.
