House on the Hill - Close in Retreat in the City

The HOTH is centrally located in an established neighborhood of houses built in the early to mid 1900s. This house was built in 1980 and is a split entry home with the master bedroom and bath upstairs, kitchen, living and dining room on the upper level. A second bathroom, bathroom, laundry room and family room are on the lower level. The house sits just below Alameda Ridge facing the southwest so it receives the sunrise which can be viewed through the master bathroom in the morning and from the living room in the evening. The kitchen was recently remodeled. A word of caution, the driveway is a bit steep for some, but confident drivers can easily back up or if the car is small, turn around at the top of the drive. There is also street parking. From the driveway stairs lead to the front door. The house has been receiving guests since April 2018 and has all 5 star ratings on VRBO/HomeAway. Pictures to Follow on this site, but can currently be viewed on VRBO site at the link below.

About Me
After 35 years in public education, I retired from a position as a high school principal. I consider myself semi-retired as I continue to work on a part time basis for Portland Public Schools as a project manager in the Office of School Modernization. I assist with bond modernization projects. I am able to use my expertise in education to assist the architects and contractors as they modernize the district's nine high schools. Until my husband's accident in 2017, I also served as an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark College teaching classes in their continuing administrator licensure program. My husband and I traveled several times a year here in the US and Internationally. My personal favorite locations are Italy and Guatemala. However, his accident left his paralyzed from below the shoulders, so at this point, we have only taken day trips. As a result of the accident, we cannot live in our house, and have been renting it for short stays through VRBO. The house is nicknamed, The House on the Hill because of it's location on the side of Alameda Ridge. I was told, the ridge was formed by the same ice-age floes that formed the Columbia Gorge. Centrally located with a view of the west hills. We enjoy that others can enjoy the house and I enjoy meeting our guests from around the US, and we are expanding the possible range of locations from which guests might visit by listing on other sites, like this! We have five grown children and a large extended family and many friends so we are keeping our "House on the Hill" for the time being for their visits, and have faith that one day Kevin might walk again and be able to return to our beloved home. In the meanwhile, we hope visiting educators will consider it a possible home away from home.
