CT Shore Cottage - Academic Year Rental 2021-22

New England charm with modern amenities. Connecticut shore cottage with ocean views, sun porch, knotty-pine great room--and winterized for year-round living.
Historic seashore style with vintage cottage details and modern updates. 50-yard walk to either a private or town beach. Close to nine area colleges from New Haven to New London. Excellent atmosphere for months of contemplation or for writing inspiration.
Three parking spaces--no street parking.
Fully furnished with pots, pans, utensils.

Cozy seaside street runs along the ocean, looks onto Long Island Sound. Quaint side streets run toward the creek and wetlands. Narrow beach street with people walking or jogging in the summer and open ocean skies in the quiet winter.

Perfect midpoint on the Connecticut shore—right in between New Haven and New London, for full access to everything the shoreline offers. Museums, theaters, woodland hikes, various beaches and state parks, and ferries to Long Island. Or stay on Seaside Avenue to relax with a slower pace of life.

About Me
I completed a PhD in modern U.S. history as a "nontraditional" student. I accepted a position at Smith College as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Program for the Study of Women & Gender. My dissertation received the 2020 Lerner-Scott Prize for U.S. women's history from the Organization of American Historians. I graduated Dartmouth College in the early 1990s and earned an MA in history from the University of Vermont a few years later. I have worked in public high schools, youth programs, community colleges, and selective universities. I also spent some time as a freelance writer, and my website lists my creative publications. I have taken many road trips across the U.S., especially to the region around Colorado. I had many special camping experiences in the days before smart phones, when we sat in the dark of a backcountry area and looked at the fire. I also jumped on trains through southern and western Europe, with extended time in southern Spain. I love Granada. Now I prefer day trips to hike in the woods.
