Charming guest room in Artist House

Colorful and fun artist's 3-story home with a charming private bedroom and access to your own bathroom in the Jamaica Plain/Egleston Square neighborhood in Boston. The 1850's era private house is about an 8-10 minute walk to the train station (orange line to Stonybrook), walking distance to great cafes, restaurants and glorious Franklin Park.

We have a newborn in the house, so there will be some crying in the middle of the night (but the acoustics in the house are great--so you shouldn't hear much in your room as we are upstairs). ALSO! We have a very sweet dog named Ariel Potbelly living with us. She is very good-natured and will want to just give you a kiss and hang out. Please note that we are a smoke-free house and like to keep things super clean and tidy in the shared living spaces. Depending on your length of stay, we would assume that you would help maintain the shared living spaces and bathroom (take out your garbage, clean your bathroom, sweep etc), and chip in for shared household goods like: TP, paper towels, napkins, shared kitchen sundries, cleaning supplies as needed.

We are looking to rent to professional academics and grad students or post-docs who are in town for a specific reason--ideally you are a busy, kind, considerate and clean guest. We are both artists and academics, and spend a lot of time upstairs in our studios along with tending to the baby and dog.

There is a luscious garden out back with a patio, hammock, grill, flowers, and croquet set! Very accessible to downtown Boston and the various Boston Colleges. Please note that the room you would rent is on the first floor, our bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs, so there is a fair amount of privacy and lots of space inside the house and also in the huge garden. Utilities are included (if staying for a month or less--otherwise we will discuss what makes sense), and yes, we have hi-speed WIFI. There is also a parking spot available if you need it. We also have laundry on the premises which you are welcome to use, along with a well-appointed kitchen with a dishwasher and all the basics you need for cooking and baking.

About Me
Maya Erdelyi is a Boston-based award-winning animator and director. She creates intricate hand-made animations and collages inspired by imaginary worlds, memories and the unconscious. Maya’s work utilizes a hybrid approach to cut-paper stop-motion, puppetry, drawn and computer animation and installation. She is a recipient of the 2017 Brother Thomas Award & Fellowship and the 2017 Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship in Film, and is currently an artist-in-residence at the Boston Center for the Arts. Maya is a 2012 MFA graduate in Experimental Animation from CalArts, and is working on her first documentary animation entitled “Anyuka.” which will include a large-scale public art project entitled “Walk Cycle.” Maya is currently a Faculty member in Animation at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and Lesley University in Boston. Maya is from New York City and is married to Daniel Rowe another animator and academic (MassArt and Harvard). They have a small well-trained dog named Ariel Potbelly, and love flea markets, japanese onsens, and making breakfast.
