Beautiful room near Archway/Highgate in comfy quiet and SAFE home w. views over London

Come and stay in this pleasant attic bedroom in a quiet, comfy and tasteful home with views across London. The property is a maisonette near the pedestrianised Archway Zone 2 tube station, within walking distance of Highgate and Crouch End. The street, built in 1891, is in the Whitehall Park conservation area. Many shops and amenities are nearby, while Bloomsbury, The City and the West End are an easy commute by tube or bus.

The place is ideal for older or postgraduate students, academic visitors and writers. It is arranged on four levels, so there is plenty of privacy. The kitchen and bathroom are shared (with myself and one other lodger) but you have your own storage space in both rooms. There is also a separate WC. The room has a small double bed but although the occasional visitor is acceptable, the room is for single occupancy. There is no shared living room.

The rent includes heating, electricity and (fast) WiFi, washing machine and dryer, and use of the lovely garden. A set of towels, bedding, and bedlinen are provided. The home is cleaned on a regular basis. All of this is included in the rent – no nasty surprises.

If you are not able to visit in person before a letting, I can offer a Skype tour. I can also put you in touch with former lodgers from around the world who enjoyed their stay here. Once a letting is agreed, I provide a clear and simple letting agreement, inventory and receipts. If you are new to London, I can provide detailed travel information in advance.

About Me
I am now in a second career as an academic: the first, as a journalist and editor, took me abroad over the years and I still have friends around the world. I've lived in this part of London for years and love it deeply. The street is pretty and safe, a short walk to a Zone 2 tube station, and the neighbours are friendly. I have been letting rooms in my home for several years and it has been very enjoyable. My aim is to find a good match with people who want what I can offer: somewhere comfortable, quiet, beautiful, well-run and convenient. I enjoy sharing the space with like-minded people but do not intrude: the mood is one of mutual respect, common sense and privacy. I provide prompt receipts and rental agreements and maintain the property to a high standard. Regarding Covid 19 safety, the aim is to share a sensible attitude to managing risk – considerate but reasonable.
