FURNISHED MORNING ROOM IN NORTH OAKLAND, CA CHARMER, 3 BLOCKS TO ASHBY BART
PANDEMIC PROTOCOL
Because the covid virus has surged so strongly, I have put in place stricter protocols.
Meal preparation and clean up are restricted to the following hours:
7 am to 8 am 1 pm to 2 pm 7:30 to 8:30 pm
Meals must be eaten in your room.
Two nearby grocery stores that have a wide selection of prepared meals are Whole Foods and Berkeley Bowl in addition to local cafes.
No access to lIving room, dining room, and half bath during the pandemic.
Always mask whenever you leave your room and wipe down all bathroom and kitchen surfaces you have touched with the materials I have provided.
Wash your hands for the minimum 20 seconds as soon as you enter the house and use hand sanitizer. We need to maintain the 6' social distancing whenever we are in a room together, although being in the same room at the same time needs to be minimized. If you agree to and are comfortable with all this, then by all means, make a reservation.

Feel right at home during your stay in the San Francisco Bay Area. Share a lovingly refurbished 1906 home with me on the Oakland/Berkeley border. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is a short five minute walk away for easy access to San Francisco and both Oakland and SFO airports. If you arrive with a car, there is plenty of street parking, but a guest parking permit is required. They are $5 per day or $27 for two consecutive weeks Monday through Friday. UC Berkeley campus is about 2 miles away. There are many amenities within walking distance; post office, the fabulous Berkeley Bowl grocery store, Whole Foods, Sweet Adeline’s Bake Shop, La Pena Cultural Center, Ashby Stage Theater, cafes, the downtown Berkeley arts district, plenty of public transportation, etc.
If you like to cook, this is the place. My kitchen is BIG, with two refrigerators, a six foot stainless steel prep table, double oven, six burner stove and two sinks. And a love seat right in the kitchen that makes conversation easy and fun while you cook! There is a separate dining room and a very inviting living room. All the bedrooms are upstairs, with shared bath and a half downstairs. You are welcome to use my washer and drier.
Outside I have a spacious front porch with a fountain and porch swing to relax on and a big deck and spa in the back yard. Lots of plants, birds, squirrels, and the occasional raccoon to keep you entertained.
I am easy going and have spent many years sharing my home with travelers and housemates so I'm sure you will be very comfortable here.
BART is a 5 minute walk. AC Transit bus lines within one block. Bay Bridge is a 10 minute drive.

HOUSE RULES
•If you are the last one out of the house you will need to set the alarm and make sure windows and doors are closed and locked.
•An occasional visitor is okay with me but please be sure to arrange it with me beforehand. No overnight visitors. So if, while here, you meet someone with whom you would like to get better acquainted, you will need to do that elsewhere.
•Please keep your room and common areas neat and clean. If you cook, please wash, dry, and put away your dishes, wipe down the counters, work surfaces, and the stove, and sweep up any food droppings on the floor. If you like to fry foods, you will need to wipe down all the surfaces the oil splattered onto, as I do not have an exhaust fan. Be finished cooking, eating, and cleaning in the kitchen by 9 pm.
•I provide bed linens and towels but you are responsible for laundering the bed linens. I do the heavy cleaning in the common areas but it is expected that you will clean up well after yourself. I will show you where the cleaning supplies and the vacuum are stored, so you can keep your room clean. I require no less that once monthly dusting and vacuuming in your room.
•Please Conserve
Electricity: Turn lights off when you leave a room; turn off the exhaust fan in the bathroom.
Water: California rarely has water to spare, so please conserve our precious resource. Don't leave water running when brushing your teeth or washing the dishes and please be mindful when taking showers.
•Recycle; Oakland recycles nearly all of our waste. I will show you the recycling ropes.
• Hot Tub use: Please shower before use. I will show you how to check the water chemistry.
• This is a quiet, non- smoking, drug free property.
I look forward to meeting you.
