We stayed at this property three times, to visit Madison because my parents live nearby. So I can give the insight of someone who grew up on Madison's East side, and who is very picky about where I stay. My husband and I chose this place because of it's neighborhood, walking proximity to everything, and how perfect it was for our toddler.

The house itself is beautiful, old, hardwood, but very comfortable. I love to cook, so I'm very particular about my kitchens, and this one was roomy, and had everything we needed in terms of appliances and supplies. Floors were smooth and rugs were soft for our son to toddle around. We had to do very little baby proofing for the place to be safe for him. Beds were comfortable, and it was great to have a shower/tub for ourselves and the munchkin, and another bathroom downstairs. The front screened-in porch was a perfect place for the kiddo to play and get some fresh air, without getting bit by mosquitoes. The owners also left some backyard toys, so we played out there a bunch. They were very informative about the house, and extremely receptive if we needed anything.

The Marquette/Yahara neighborhood is one of my favorites in the city. If we ever moved back, I would look for a place there. Super friendly, walkable, family-oriented neighborhood a short distance from Lake Monona. Yahara Place Park is a couple blocks around the corner, and Jenifer St. Market is a 5-minute walk up the street, which is a very impressively stocked market for it's size. That was our favorite daily activity - picking up groceries for the evening meal after playing at the park. We also went out to eat, and there are probably over a dozen good restaurants within a 15-20 minute walk from the house.

If you're a family with kids, (or without!) you couldn't find a better place to stay or live in Madison.
