Our modern, comfortable, fully-furnished home is situated on three life-style acres at Mahurangi West, 50 km (31 miles) north of Auckland City. We have spectacular views over a river estuary and rolling farm land. There are several fine sea beaches and walking tracks nearby. The school bus run (primary and secondary) comes past our gate. The house is on two storeys with three bedrooms (or two bedrooms and a study), two bathrooms, and a large open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen upstairs, and a self-contained double-bedroom apartment downstairs, allowing for flexible living arrangements. (The separate apartment could accommodate another couple, or a teenager, etc) There are sliding glass doors on to big deck areas both upstairs and downstairs with BBQ and jacuzzi (spa) on the upper deck. Winter heating is by a woodfire and/or heatpump. We have two single kayaks, and use of these on the river estuary can be negotiated. The house has good internet access and wi-fi. It is on three acres, at the tip of a peninsula, with regenerating native bush, two orchards, a large and very productive vegetable garden, and bee-hives. Depending on the season, there will be different fruit and vegetables ready for picking. The house would be especially suitable for a family with children, who enjoy country and beach life and are happy to spend an hour a week, mowing the lawn and weeding the vegetable patches. Getting to the various university campuses: To the University of Auckland and AUT city campuses takes 45 mins by car (outside peak times), but our preference is for the park-and-ride system - 15 mins drive and 30 mins express bus, even in peak traffic. To the Massey University and AUT North Shore campuses, and to University of Auckland Leigh marine campus, is a 25-30 min drive. Use of a car can be negotiated separately.
