House in Family-Friendly Neighborhood (Close to UAlbany & Area Colleges)

There is a gas fireplace in the living room.The four-season sunroom has a piano, access to the stone patio, grill and fire pit. The backdoor leads right to the mudroom, which is very convenient for the winter. The partially finished basement has laundry and small playroom (or office), and the house is heated with a high-efficiency gas boiler. The back yard is fenced in. From the house's ideal location, you can walk to a coffee shop, pubs, grocery store, bank, the bike trail, places of worship, and the outstanding public library. This family-friendly neighborhood has the award-winning Hamagrael Elementary School and regionally recognized Bethlehem Middle School, both only 1 mile from the house. Bethlehem Central High School is rated the number one high school in the capital district and is 1.5 miles away. We love the neighborhood because it is kid-friendly with lots people walking, biking, and enjoying the local attractions. Within a short drive you can be at Thacher State Park & the hilltowns of Renaessaerville, Berne and Westerlo, which have amazing hiking and snowshoeing trails. Five River, a nature preserve is just 7 minutes away. However, if you also love good food and culture, the state capital of Albany is just 7 minutes in the other direction. Albany has breweries, distilleries, & fantastic restaurants. Albany Institute of Art is in downtown, while Opalka gallery is nearby, too. Trendy Troy is a few minutes further and is home to the Troy Music Hall and more restaurants. The house is only a short drive to SUNY-Albany and other area colleges, including the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Albany Medical Center, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Union College, Skidmore College, College of Saint Rose, and the Sage Colleges. We've owned the house for nearly a decade and have rented it in the past while on another fellowship year. We'd love to have someone rent it for the whole time we are away, but we can be flexible. Ideally, the renters would do the lawncare (which is minimal) and snowblow the driveway (which depends on the winter), but we can negotiate on these tasks. We will have professional help available if something needs fixing. We'd be happy to help you get settled when you arrive and share our tips of the area.
