This 3rd floor (4th US) loft with elevator is located in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Paris. A minute’s walk away from the famous Champ de Mars park, it’s very close to major landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and the river Seine. This elegant, family-oriented neighborhood, on the border between the 7th and 15th districts, is considered one of the greenest and safest in Paris, and is served by all public transport: metro, buses, bike rentals and the train to Versailles. There are broad, tree-lined avenues, gardens and parks with playgrounds, and excellent access to a wide variety of shops and traditional open-air markets, as well as cafes, restaurants and bistros. The Champs de Mars is great for jogging, bike riding and picnics. Located inside a classic 1930s Art Deco building, the loft was originally built as an artist’s atelier and the windows face north, so there is no direct sunlight but it is very luminous; cool in summer and cozy in winter with excellent central heating and ventilation. While electricity and plumbing are all modern, the loft has retained its old-style, authentic Parisian character. There are oak parquet floors in the main living and sleeping area and the high ceilings have original molding. There is a fully-equipped kitchen with all appliances and the bathroom has a bath with shower extension + WC. All charges are included in the rental price, including internet/Wi-Fi, heating, water, electricity, gas and building services. The large windows look down onto the courtyard garden. There's no street view but no vis-à-vis either and it's quiet and private. The building's front door gives onto a sensational view of the Eiffel Tower. The building is secure, with entry via a street door opened by code/electronic pass and then a second door with intercom, opened by buzzer or pass. There is a full-time concierge. The loft is ideal for a single individual, a couple, or a couple with a child who doesn't mind sleeping in a sofa bed. If you are curious as to how it would feel to be a "real" Parisian/Parisienne living in the city, this is a great choice. It's very important to us that guests feel as though the loft is their special home in Paris. Like all great cities, Paris can sometimes seem overwhelming, and we believe it's vital to have a restful nest where one can feel safe, reflect on all that has been done that day, and make plans for the next amazing sight or day trip - as well as to provide tranquil surroundings for research, writing and reflection. Ideally, guests are responsible, reliable and independent people who are respectful of the loft and quality lifestyle of the building; and who appreciate the charm, old-world authenticity, and excellent value on offer. We are an Australian couple who lived and worked in Paris for many years, and own the loft. That’s an important consideration, as French laws strictly forbid tenants from subletting their apartments. We now live and work in the South of France. Tim is a writer whose novels are published by a leading publishing house. For 10 years he worked in the consular section of the Australian embassy in Paris, assisting citizens in distress and liaising with French authorities. Julie is a former professional chef who attended Anne Willan's celebrated cooking school, La Varenne, and worked for several years at the world-famous Le Cordon Bleu Paris as a translator after retiring from cooking following the birth of our son. She now works for an innovative language school and also paints. We ask for a security deposit against any damages, returned upon departure, and a cleaning fee. Subletting and wild parties are not allowed and can lead to immediate termination of lease. We provide proof of ID and ownership, contracts in either French or English and legal receipts. Don't hesitate to contact us should you require any more info about the loft or Paris and we wish you a wonderful stay in the City of Light.
