Venice Beach Writer's House Two Blocks from the Beach!!

Nathan's family home in Venice was so cute and cozy. The house definitely has a vintage and homey feel. No TV, but plenty of books, vinyl, and even a piano to keep you occupied. Besides, the beach is 2 blocks away, so no need to be inside!

We visited during winter and the house did get pretty cold due to lack of central AC/Heat, even with the space heaters. However, I bet that during the rest of the year, this isn't really a problem.

It is their family home, so it is very much lived in. You are using and are surrounded by all of their personal possessions. Loved the organic soap. Wish they offered non-wool blankets as I am allergic. They were great hosts who welcomed us with coffee, wine, and a detailed guide. They are responsive and kind.

Great location in the heart of Venice Beach! Nathan is a super thoughtful, amenable, and gracious host. He was quick to respond and helpful throughout and left us with wine and coffee and a binder full of great tips and cool places to visit (all within easy walking distance). You have to keep a close eye on the parking—but you get to know the good spots. It’s good to be aware that the space itself is a curated, lived-in vintage space, not a pristine hotel experience. Overall a welcoming spot with a great record collection and a lovely outdoors-y nook as well! Thanks Nathan and family for your hospitality, we appreciate it.

I stayed at Nathan and Kelly's home with my 8 month old, partner, and dad for two weeks, and we had an incredible stay. The kitchen is fully stocked and a joy to cook in, we loved their vinyl collection and introducing baby C to lots of great music, the front patio was a wonderful place to have coffee or a glass of wine and unwind, and it was plenty of space for the four of us. The location is great: super close to the beach, Gjusta/Gjelina (we went there way too much!), a few steps to the bus to UCLA, and a lot of other points of interest in walking distance. Our hosts offered excellent recommendations, communication was great, and were really kind (including having wine and coffee available for us after a long flight). I'd love to return.

We rented from 12/19 to 1/8/23 2 blocks to the colorful busy Venice Beach 3 blocks to quiet Santa Monica beach. Front patio comfortable, quiet, fenced and dog friendly. Street parking easy and usually right in front of the house. Good audio system with many LPs. No TV but adequate wifi to watch newshour on laptop. Friendly helpful next door neighbor.

15 steps to front door without hand rails. Any mobility issues will make this a problem. Closets and dressers filled with owners clothes so we lived out of suitcases. No central HVAC. Instead portable space heaters and no AC for summer. Very old appliances. Kitchen sink has lost a lot of enamel and always looked dirty.

Nathan and his family's Venice beach house was clean, cozy, warm, and welcoming. He sent detailed instructions prior to our arrival (with lists of recommended restaurants and stores!). He always responded quickly when we had questions. We had a great time and the weather being so close to the beach was PERFECT. Venice CA is a = quaint and walkable community, which is what I was looking for. The postal worker was even nice (he left my barking dog a biscuit by the mailbox-- who does that these days?!). The house is also quite close to LAX (but a world away in ambiance), so it was really convenient for us.
