Description

*PLEASE NOTE* My house will only be available for short lets of around one week on limited dates. until the autumn of 2024. Sorry! :) The House: a pretty Victorian house set in a leafy street in a buzzy and trendy east End neighbourhood. The local hub is attractive Francis Rd which offers coffee shops, bars, artisanal bakeries & organic grocery shops. The house has a large living area with stripped floorboards, antique and vintage furniture and paintings, and a contemporary kitchen overlooking the beautiful courtyard garden and patio. Upstairs there is a study overlooking the garden and a good-sized master bedroom with king bed next to a brand new designer bathroom with walk-in shower. The loft space on the top level offers another double room next to a shower room. (There is also a spare room which won't be in use as I will use it to store my personal effects). Why I am letting: I am a novelist, letting my house in October for three weeks so that I can get away from all distractions and complete my latest book. I am also open to short stays of around a week over the summer. As a qualified City of London guide I am well-placed to tell you all the must-visit historical attractions, including great historic pubs and eateries during your stay! Nearby Nature: a 20 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride east away is a pretty area with a lake and heathland, great for walking - this is the edge of Epping Forest a huge area of woodland further east. (I have a commuter bike with basket for shortish trips you are welcome to use! Bike rental is available locally). Another nearby attraction is the Lea river which has nice walks all the way to the Thames. The Thames with all its attractions is easily reachable by Dockland light railway from Stratford. Nearby Amenities: Stratford is one tube stop or 10 minute bike ride/15 min bus ride away. It played host to the London Olympics, and has the large Westfield shopping mall with Apple store, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer etc and also the Olympic Park & Village with its pleasant walks, cycle paths, and a host of cafes and restaurants. Connections: the house is a 12 minute walk to Leyton tube station from where the Central Line tube runs trains every two or three minutes west into the city. I can leave the house and be on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral in 35 minutes! Three stops further west and you are in the West End with the University of London, British Museum & a host of galleries and museums. East London - especially Shoreditch - is famous for its hipsters, and boasts great restaurants and bars and arty happenings. Other transport hubs are Stratford Station one stop west with various rail connections, including the Elizabeth Line which connects to Heathrow and beyond; a high speed 6 minute rail link into St Pancras, where you can catch the Eurostar to Paris; or southwardsto the Kent coast. Leyton Midland Rd overground station is 12 minutes away and will take you to North London - connecting to Camden and onward to Richmond on the river.
