Live like a local in our charming, sun-drenched apartment with a lovely enclosed balcony that opens to a gorgeous hidden courtyard in the heart of Lisbon in Campo De Ourique, voted by Time Out as Lisbon’s best neighborhood. In a historic, tiled building, our home is a peaceful and quiet, sunlit writer's sanctuary, and a perfect fit for academics/writers/artists/designers/digital nomads as it is equipped with two desks in the study, ultra-high-speed internet, with additional work space options at the kitchen island or enclosed balcony--a perfect space for writing, reading, and working from home. We've recently renovated our spacious one-bedroom-in actuality it is a two-bedroom-we chose to transform one room into a study/office space with two desks, and another into a dressing room, and reconfigured the kitchen to have an open plan and island w/ living room. We've curated the space to carefully preserve the original details: from restoring the original wide plank wood floors, Cross of Anthony beams, two exposed brick walls, and the intricate molding of the high ceilings, to the luminous French windows and original wooden shutters. The design includes the accent of hand painted Portuguese tiles—Azulejos, in the newly renovated two bathrooms, the balcony, and the kitchen back-splash. We have one large bathroom with a luxurious porcelain bathtub for soaking and rain shower w/ additional shower handle, and towel heater; the other is a WC with a walk-in rain shower. Both with limitless hot water and great water pressure. A brand-new queen-sized bed in bedroom, sun lit by tall French windows with wooden shutters. The apartment is equipped with a Samsung, bespoke refrigerator; dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, & washing machine (all Bosch); a brand-new 4K UHD, 43” Samsung Smart TV and cable; ultra, high-speed internet, two brand new, top of the line AC units (though apt has a wonderful cross breaze), two ceiling fans, and a Niece-style electric awning over the balcony. All windows are double paned and the electricity updated for modern appliances. With Southern exposure on the balcony, and Northern exposure in the bedroom, the apartment is filled with sunlight throughout the day. Two beach chairs and umbrella are available for your use--beaches are just a skip and a hop away. Only one flight up, the apartment is situated in a historic, 1920’s beautifully tiled (often an Instagram regular) building just around the corner from: a hop onto the famed Tram 28; the Campo De Ourique Mercado (similar to the Time Out Market, but more authentic, less touristy); Fernando Pessoa Museum; Jardim da Parada (garden square with a café); and a short stroll to the landmark green oasis of beloved Jardim Estrela (stunning park/garden with green space, fountains, unique trees, two cafes, and a monthly local artisan, craft market) and famed Estrela Basilica. Campo de Ourique is highly walkable as it is mostly flat, picturesque, filled with cafes, restaurants, wine shops—a foodie haven, boutiques, design and concept stores, book shops, vintage shops, galleries, markets, bakeries, health food store, and supermarkets (Pingo Doce is around the corner), and a short walk to Amoreiras Shopping Center and metro (Rato), and a pleasant and scenic walk to nearby Principe Real, Barrio Alto, and Estrela neighborhoods, and to many of the historic sites/museums/destinations or just a quick Uber/Bolt/taxi ride to any Lisbon destination—and only a twenty-minute drive from the airport. Though unique, of course, to Lisbon culture and architectural design, as a comparison, you might think of Campo de Ourique as a bit of a Park Slope/Cobble Hill or Canal St. Martin/Le Marais neighborhood vibe. We're writers/poets/professors/Zen practioners and have taught around the world from Brooklyn to Istanbul, Hangzhou, Moscow, and led workshops in Cambodia for children, teachers, and social workers. This is our home! We look forward to hearing about you!
