It is situated in a protected and peaceful area of more than 20 hectares, just outside of the centre of Florence, at the foot of the hill of Settignano, in a marvellous environment, surrounded by meadows and olive groves. Unique, historical and very chic. The Chapel was built in the 17th century and restored in neoclassical style. Now is an apartment offering a unique historic experience! How many rental house bedrooms have a frescoed ceiling, with the back-to-back moons of the Strozzi topped by a 12-pointed crown, set on a fluffy cloud against a blue sky? The sitting room, where the nobles originally followed mass from behind the richly carved screen (it's still there - check out the bookshelves in the sitting room!), is comfortable and elegantly furnished with a settee and two armchairs. The room is divided by a wide arch, with the little dining table across from the sitting room. Nothing could be more perfect for a romantic candlelit dinner. The kitchen is tiny but every bit as beautifully formed as the rest of the apartment. You'll find 2 gas hobs, a sink, a fridge and just enough pots and pans tucked behind double doors. The Chapel offers: air-conditioning, free Internet wifi access, huge garden, mini-pool for your relax, BBQ, parking inside the property, electronic entrance gate to the estate. In the living room you will find art books, travel magazines, city maps, museum and restaurant guides. The Chapel has a wonderful atmosphere. It is particularly suitable for a couple looking for a refined cultural experience, and who want to stay in a unique historic place. The sourrounding of Residenza Strozzi is a procected area which serve as a protection against the invasion of the suburbs and to promote a feeling of free space and of distance. Today, for anybody who takes a bus to the area from downtown Florence, the first green space they encounter are the fields, vineyards and olive groves that were meant to constitute the “free space” surrounding the Villa and his garden. Aerial photographs of the property and its surroundings furnish an eloquent testimony of how this green area has not only survived, but has also continued to provide the protection Berenson envisioned more than half a century ago. The little "borgo" of Settignano carries a familiar name for having produced three sculptors of the Florentine Renaissance, Desiderio da Settignano and the Gamberini brothers, better known as Bernardo Rossellino and Antonio Rossellino. The young Michelangelo lived with a sculptor and his wife in Settignano—in a farmhouse that is now the "Villa Michelangelo"— where his father owned a marble quarry. In 1511 another sculptor was born there, Bartolomeo Ammannati. The marble quarries of Settignano produced this series of sculptors. Two bus stops at walking distance. Bus # 10 runs 3 time per hour from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm. 10 min to the centre Bus # 17 runs every 5/8 min from 6.00 am to midnight. 15 min to the centre.
