Casa Feliz is the perfect peaceful mountain retreat to write, create, or just get away. Our cozy cabin is situated in Cloudcroft, NM in the Sacramento Mountains at nearly 9,000 feet on the traditional homelands of the Mescalero Apache. It is a convenient 90-minute drive from Las Cruces, NM; 2-hour drive from El Paso, TX; 3.5-hour drive from Albuquerque, NM; and 5.5-hour drive from Tucson, AZ. Cloudcroft is a charming mountain village with access to amazing locations such as White Sands, Three Rivers Petroglyphs, Craters of the Moon, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, the Very Large Array, and Ruidoso. Casa Feliz has two bedrooms and two baths, a common room, a kitchen, an outdoor deck, and a small yard with a swing, grill, and seating areas. Our kitchen will have all the basics. However, for fresh groceries, please be prepared to travel 30 minutes to the grocery stores in Alamogordo, NM. Casa Feliz has a propane heater, washer and dryer, and a wood-burning stove in the common area. It sleeps four comfortably. We have set up a lot of great spaces for reading and writing. Our high-speed WI-FI can accommodate any virtual meetings, courses, and entertainment. Casa Feliz, in the middle of a small cluster of cabins and homes, is surrounded by the Lincoln National Forest - a pine and aspen forest with many hiking trails within walking distance. Birds, elk, deer, feral horses, wild turkeys, fox, and other life abound. They regularly visit Casa Feliz's backyard. We enjoy rigorous mountain hikes and meadow walks. The sunrises and sunsets are awesome ~ Haynes Canyon Vista is the perfect spot to end the day. Full moons and star-filled skies are spectacular! Visit High Altitude in town for information about the local mountain biking and hiking trails. All village shops are walkable. For coffee, we recommend Black Bear Coffee. For pizza, craft beer, and live music, visit the Cloudcroft Brewing Company. Gluten-free and vegan cheese options available.
