I am a semi-retired Australian academic who regularly works in Padua. My Italian husband and I recently purchased this apartment as a base for our visits to Padua, along with other parts of Italy and Europe beyond. We love this city and are keen to share the studio with others so they too, can live and work here, or simply discover Padua's incredible history, contemporary arts scene and amazing cultural treasures. The studio itself was completely gutted and fastidiously rebuilt 3 years ago. It is in pristine condition. At 30 square meters, the studio is compact and best suits a single guest or a couple. Whilst small in floor space, the studio has been thoughtfully configured with a separate double bedroom that increases its flexibility . The divan in the kitchen-sitting area becomes a comfortable bed for overnight guests. It is a silent writing space with fast Wifi. You can also work comfortably in the tranquil courtyard in warmer months (see photos). The kitchen is generously equipped with crockery and glassware. It has ample storage, a stovetop, microwave and clothes washer. There is a TV in the bedroom. The studio has reverse cycle air-conditioning and centralised hydronic heating during the winter months. All linen is supplied. The location of this studio is pretty special!! You will be located a gentle 10 minute walk along the river to Galileo's Observatory. You can reach the Duomo (Cathedral) and wonderful old markets (for fruit, vegetables, meat etc) in the same amount of time. The nearest supermarket is 5 minutes walk away; there is also a lovely family bakery/deli around the corner which has sells bread, pastries and ''food to go'' and has long opening hours. Lovely pasticciere and trattorie are nearby. Also, 10 minutes away is Via Umberto Primo-Via Roma, the main shopping street in pedestrianised central Padua. That is also the location of the oldest campus of the University of Padua, known as the Bo. Giotto's iconic Scrovegni Chapel and Prato della Valle, the largest (and one of the most beautiful) squares in Europe) are 15 minute walks away. The station is 20 minutes by foot or 8-10 minutes by taxi or tram.. The train to Venice is 30 minutes from Padua (approx). Verona, home to the Montagues and Capulets is 45 minutes away. You can reach either Treviso or Venice airport in 90 mins (by train and bus) or shuttle (45 minutes). Padua really is a 'town and gown' city with the famous Basilica of San Antonio attracting many pilgrims from around the world in huge contrast to the lively student bars and dormitories around the University. Padua/Padova is one of the few cities in the world with two UNESCO heritage sites: the Botanical Garden, the oldest academic garden in the world, and the fourteenth-century fresco cycles, a museum widespread in eight civic and holy sites in Padua under the Padova Urbs Picta guardianship. Dr Eleonora Pisicopia studied at the University of Padova in the 1600s and became the first woman in the world to graduate with a PhD. Galileo and Copernicus taught at the University and Petrach lived here.
