Hello! My name is Katy and my husband Jim are parents to 6 yr old twins. I've lived in Seattle for 17 years and work in EdTech for a language learning company. I'm fortunate enough to have been able to build a custom detached mother-in-law behind my home as a way to invest in my property and the community. You'll have the benefit of renting a brand new spot, complete with AC (rare in Seattle!) washer and dryer, dishwasher, and more. If you have questions about the furniture, please don't hesitate to ask! It includes: - custom closets with hanging space, shelves, and drawers - a queen Tempur-Pedic mattress with storage underneath - a sofa + 2 storage ottomans for guests - a 50" smart TV - a convertible coffee table that rises to dining or working - stools for the dine-in kitchen - dedicated workspace for 1-2 monitors if you work from home Don't be fooled! For a small home it has tons of storage space. Features include a lofted bedroom/office area, a cozy living area, and a kitchen fit for a full size home if you're a fan of hosting. The full bathroom includes 15ft ceilings and sun-filled skylights to offer tons of natural light. We've also recently redone our backyard. You'll be able to enjoy outdoor patio furniture, an outdoor kitchen and grill, and space to get some fresh air. We often make homemade pizza on Fridays with our outdoor pizza oven. We'd love to host you or let you use the backyard amenities if you feel so inclined. Our home is as close as it gets to the #8 bus line that takes you all over town. We're also close to hospitals, cafes, shops, restaurants, and multiple grocery options. Even though you'd be in your own little home behind our home, we're thrilled to host you and offer you access to anything you may need during your stay. You may borrow tools from the garage or store your camping or hiking or snowshoeing gear. You may even hitch along with us on trips to Costco or Target! You are also absolutely welcome to anything we could share with you to make living in our small home as comfortable as possible. Our home is on a busy street but the mother-in-law is set back from the road and is extra quiet. To add to the peaceful setting we've installed windows that block even more sound that have up/down and down/up shades. So you can get as much natural light as possible into the space without compromising privacy.
