My current guest is an academic on sabbatical who told me about this site. While I've made a few choices with travel nurses in mind (a super tricked-out recliner; black-out shades in bedroom), this is also well suited for an academic on sabbatical. Here's how I pitch it to them (on Furnished Finders). I rebuilt my garage with a private, spacious apartment above it. You'll enter into your own ground-floor "mud room," a must in Vermont. Furnishings are primarily new, with a few sturdy, carefully chosen vintage pieces (note: it includes a Paliser ZG4 zero-gravity recliner). Lots of storage. Three closets; one is walk-in and contains the (new, top-of-the-line) washer and dryer. The bathroom is oversized with a spa-like feel. The big bedroom is outfitted with app-controlled black-out blinds: great for night shift. Ample windows on every side give gorgeous light but with a sense of privacy as well as distant lake views; it's like you're up in the trees. Very large (new!) Alexa-enabled TV in living/dining area with Bose sound system plus CD/DVD player. There's a second, smaller TV in the bedroom, and both feature popular streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOMax). The theme really is "the best." Top-rated bed and bath linen, appliances, and kitchen tools. Security measures include app-enabled deadbolt locks, motion-sensitive lit pathways, hard-wired smoke/C02 detectors, and a sprinkler system. You've got your own balcony and access to a Weber gas grill on my deck. I maintain a 'no-animals, scent-free' policy so that the apartment stays accessible for guests who are highly sensitive to pet dander and allergens. You can be confident you'll be comfortable. My place is in Burlington's "New North End," which is a quiet, safe, lakeside enclave that's still close to the fun of downtown (and the Medical Center). A nearby shopping plaza features a supermarket, liquor/wine store, several restaurants, 24/7 gym, post office, salon and barber, plus a hardware store. The City's recreation paths are just around the corner, connecting you to downtown, as well as several lakeside and river-front parks, plus stunning urban hikes with seasonal cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. You'll also have guest access to my neighborhood's private beach on Lake Champlain--the pictures don't do it justice! Come find out why Burlington consistently ranks as one of the nicest places in the USA.
