We had our Galiano Home completely rebuilt nine years ago in anticipation of retirement. Now that we're retired, we want to share it while we travel and spend time in Mexico. Gated driveway slopes down to an attached, single garage. Entry/garage level includes a double-high foyer with Bocci lighting, guest bedroom with semi-ensuite and laundry room. Euroline windows, French door and sliders are turn & tilt, mostly with hidden screens. All floors are heated porcelain tile - the propane fireplaces are just decorative as the home maintains a very comfortable and consistent temperature with five heating zones. Six steps down from the foyer is the modern kitchen, featuring a Liebherr Refrigerator with two-zone wine section, Wolf convection and steam ovens, Thermador induction stovetop and two-drawer Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. French doors lead from the breakfast eating area to side patio with Weber barbeque. One step down and a four-sided central propane fireplace separate the kitchen island from the dining and tv/living areas. Starlink satellite internet is provided making TV streaming a breeze. From the front and side stone patios, two small steps down takes you to the "infinity" clifftop lawn. There is no clifftop fence - for safe access to the gorgeous east-facing beach below the cliff, a public trail maintained by the local parks and rec commission is immediately next door and accessible from the front (oceanside) yard. A flight up from the foyer is the primary bedroom, with walk-in closet and open ensuite featuring a steam shower and air (bubble) tub. Both with ocean views! There is also a small balcony perch from the bedroom for breathing in the ocean air. Ridge skylights stretch along the entire upper vaulted ceiling, three of which are motorized for opening and closing. Active Pass, the marine passage separating Galiano and Mayne islands, is ever changing with strong tidal currents and an abundance of animal, bird and marine life. It is one of the most reliable areas in the Southern Gulf Islands for orca watching. Local and transient pods are regular visitors as are Humpback whales. Otters and seals are often frolicking in the currents and the moaning and barking sounds of sea lions resting on the rocks of Helen Point across the pass is a background sound you learn to love. Watching the BC Ferries pass is also something that never gets old, not to mention all the other marine traffic that traverses the pass both daily and nightly. Hiking options from our Georgeson Bay neighbourhood are plentiful as we're tucked between Mount Galiano and Bluff Park, which is full of trails extending across the south end of Galiano. A few of the island stores are just a few kilometers away - an easy stroll if one is so inclined. Few are immune to the island charm of Galiano, which is probably even more evident in the slower seasons of fall, winter and spring.
