My mother (a German textile designer/artist) fell in love with this house when we first moved to Victoria as a family from Toronto. She decorated and lived in it for 5 years before she moved to another part of town, and we have continued renting it through VRBO for many years (4.8/5 star rating) and in the last 3 years, to families on sabbatical leave or considering moving to Victoria. You will appreciate this light filled house with high ceilings, skylights and open concept living/dining room with high quality furnishings. It is a relatively big house for James Bay (1150 sq feet on each level), beautiful mixture of old (fir floors) and new (concrete floor downstairs and fir beams). There is a lot of space for families (downstairs , heated floor family/tv room) and upstairs living room adjacent to the kitchen. Families love how they can just WALK to everything...parks, the ocean, schools, downtown (15 min to inner harbour) and be part of a welcoming vibrant mixed age community. At the same time, the University of Victoria is only a 15-20 minute drive by car or bus and also a nice bike ride (partly along the ocean) away . (Maybe only 20-25 minutes by electric bike!) The house is on a small lot but does have a private, sunny, cozy, green courtyard great for reading, bbq's etc. I live only 7 minutes from the property and am always available if needed. Parking is right in front of the house on the street. Families love the location, quiet, tree lined street, sense of community and easy living this house and neighbourhood provides. There are 3 bedrooms all with queenside beds in the house and the fourth 'bedroom' is downstairs and can be used as a playroom, music room (piano is there) and bedroom for a teenager or child. This house ideally suits a family or couple who appreciate a bigger space. Guests appreciate the warm, artistic details of the house itself and the decor, the little east facing balcony that is perfect for a morning coffee, smelling the ocean, and listening to the birds in the trees. This home is a joyful, beautiful and easy living home away from home. You literally only need to bring your clothes, bike as everything else is provided.
