The Space This is a truly open concept apartment, which makes it feel large and cozy at the same time. Besides its size (around 1700 sq feet), the incredible light, warmth, and views stand out from other apartments in Bogotá. The apartment is the penthouse of a nice building. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, study with printer and built-in bookcases, separate study area with sofa bed, laundry room and open kitchen/dinning/living room. The massive terrace overlooks the parkway and has a nice sitting area covered and protected from sun or rain and a grill that connects to natural gas. Guest Access The entire apartment and terrace are included. Personal belongings from the owners are kept in a locked closet. Other things to note The apartment is fully equipped, including both a washing machine and a dryer in the laundry room, a rarity in Bogotá. The kitchen has granite counter tops, dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, blender and full sets of pots, pans, dishes and new stainless-steel appliances. It comes with once-a-week cleaning service. Neighborhood Overview Soledad is a safe and Bohemian neighborhood with many cultural activities. The Parkway is a beautiful two-way street separated by a large green area with trees and walkways where people gather around at all hours. Coffee shops, supermarkets, banks, and small stores locally owned, including organic products, abound in the area. It is a perfect location close to downtown and many important city areas but protected from pollution or heavy traffic. Anything you need can be found within walking distance. Artists, academics, tourists and business people find this neighborhood to be perfect. Getting around Given Bogotá's crazy traffic, this neighborhood is perfect for those who love to walk or bike. But, a big plus as well is that the area has the best public transportation. It is walking distance/10-15 minute cab ride from the main universities (La Nacional, La Javeriana, Los Andes, El Externado, El Rosario, among others.) There are several bus routes with stops right out front and within 5-10 minutes walking distance, including Cra. 19, Calle 45 and Cra. 30. You can also take two different transmilenio routes, located 10-15 minutes walking distance. Taxis abound in the area. This is a perfect apartment for Sabbatical/Visiting Professors. We have several local friends who will be happy to help you with information and navigating basic aspects of Bogotanian life! We adore our apartment and always come between June-August to visit friends, family and conduct fieldwork research.
