Peaceful valley retreat in Vermont's Green Mountains

Our contemporary home, nestled in a valley next to a peaceful brook, is a perfect retreat for scholars and writers. Hiking trails and lakes for swimming and boating are just minutes away. The house has a wood stove (and can be heated entirely with wood), two offices, a beautiful reading nook, and a large kitchen that will satisfy any cook or baker. As a fall visitor, you'll be in the midst of Vermont's world-famous leaf season, the state's most beautiful time of year. Our town, Plainfield, has a charming food co-op, an excellent pizzeria, and a great library. We're 15 minutes from Montpelier, Vermont's capital city, and roughly an hour from Burlington (University of Vermont) and Hanover (Dartmouth College). Although the house is secluded and very private, all your shopping and practical needs (pharmacies, supermarkets, urgent care, gyms, and so on) are 20 minutes away or less. We own a Subaru Crosstrek that is available to renters for a small additional fee. The house is on a dirt road, and having an all wheel drive car is helpful (though not necessary). The house comes equipped with a washer/dryer, high speed internet, a TV with streaming channels, a turntable (bring your records!), kayaks, canoes, 4 mountain bikes, and camping gear you're free to use. We have one bedroom with a queen, one with a full, and one with a twin bed, as well as two full-sized fold-out beds, one in the third floor office and one adjacent to the kitchen. The local school is Twinfield Union, a K-12 school serving Plainfield and Marshfield. Let us know if you have any questions and we're happy to answer them!
