Vacation Home Views, Privacy, Close to 3 Great Cities, New Modern Upgrades

We are being assigned to Washington, DC for a year, as was a Sabbatical Homes person from whom we first rented when we moved here 12 years ago. While we rented from them for a year, we scouted and found this amazing home up in the Oakland hills. It's incredibly private with awesome sunset-facing views. Although its location and views make it feel like a simple vacation home that you would drive hours to flee to, it's only minutes from Oakland, SF, and Berkeley. And inside we have upgraded everything in the last 5 years. It is a mile up the hill from a lovely little village with stores, restaurants, etc., and it is a half-mile walk up to outstanding trails - some sunny, some that go deep into an ancient redwood glade. We are a 12-minute drive to a regional BART train station that takes you to SF, SF and Oakland airports, as well as to Berkeley and Amtrak. I ride my e-bike to my job at UC Berkeley. It takes me about 25 minutes. Or it is about a 15-minute drive to campus. The short dead-end or cul-de-sac street has 4 homes with very lovely neighbors. The only one that is actually next to us is occupied by our oldest child and their spouse in one unit and a lovely young couple in the other. Our niece lives in the private unit that is downstairs from us (separate entry). We have a double-lot, so there is outside room for children and/or a dog. The deck and flagstone patios are spacious, so it's a great place to have guests over. We will never move from this place (indeed, as you have read, we are slowly attracting our young adult children to be near us). So, we are looking for someone to enjoy it and care for it for the year we are gone.
