Academic family looking for European exchange

Description

We are a quiet academic family looking to travel and discover a few European cities during spring and early summer 2024. Our home is newly renovated and situated in the most coveted neighbourhood in the city. It has 4 bedrooms plus a very large study with two desktop computers and long workspace. The study doubles as a TV room and music room (we have a piano). We have a gorgeous kitchen with all the amenities - a joy to cook in - and a nice gas fireplace. Apart from the fireplace which provides atmosphere there is central heating (hot water source). We also have a large picture window in the open plan kitchen that looks onto a lovely garden. We get so many birds in this garden during each season. We have space for parking and we have a trampoline in the yard for kids! We have three bathrooms (one on each floor of the house), one of which has a bathtub. For creatives: our home has a wonderful original art collection that you can enjoy during your stay. Our house is within a 30 min walk (and 15 min bike ride) from both universities in the city. Our neighbourhood is walkable - we never use our car except to get out of the city - and has it all. In our neighbourhood you will walk less than 5 minutes to get groceries from boutique grocers, delis, famous Montreal bagel shop... flower shops and gift stores and wonderful espresso bars. There is a neighbourhood tennis club right around the corner and a wonderful elementary school less than a block down the street. About our home and life in Ottawa: Ottawa is Canada's capital city and thus is full of museums and galleries and historic buildings. It boasts the longest skate way in the world (at least this is what the National Capital Commission claims to be true!) - the beautiful Rideau Canal - which in winter and spring offers skating with open fire pits and concession stands that sell "beaver tails" (a classic Canadian winter treat). The canal trails are amazing for running and road biking, and in winter the trails in city are also groomed for cross country skiing. Ottawa is a very green city, extremely safe and family friendly. The city is also very close to nature - only 15 min. easy drive to the Gatineau hills with free and amazing hiking and skiing etc. The city is less than 2 hours drive or train ride from Montreal, Quebec which is another lovely place to visit.
