Built in 2017, the quietly bespoke Nordic Farmhouse of Cooperstown, NY, was designed with small groups of discerning travelers in mind, offering a fresh blend of rural American and Scandinavian design for those seeking a quiet, elegant retreat. Sweeping cathedral ceilings, massive picture windows, and three outdoor decks invite you to lounge, dine, and take in the gorgeous scenery. The home is upscale, yet modest and grounded, with light and airy rooms on three levels: a clean-lined, modern take on the cozy cottage farmhouse. Entertainment and dining space feature an open, sun-filled floor plan, relaxed lounging area, and bar seating at a 9-foot dining table made of polished black walnut. Kitchen is clean, spacious, uncluttered, and fully stocked with gas cook top, ample prep space, and sharp, Santoku knives. Standard modern appliances, plus KitchenAid Mixer, Espresso machine. Sleeping arrangements for six include three queen bedrooms served by two full baths. High-quality bedding and linens, European fixtures, heated towel racks. Additional space for two in twin beds on basement level- fully finished, bright and airy, with large-screen television, and third full bath. High-speed WiFi, digital cable TV with all major streaming and sports channels, Amazon Firestick, and Sonos speakers for crisp audio throughout the house. Air Conditioning expanded to all bedrooms since 2020. Parking at the house is straightforward and readily accommodates 3-4 visitor vehicles. Nearby Cooperstown attractions include picturesque Main Street with its gorgeous colonial architecture, numer0us Historic Registry Landmarks, small shops, and several locally-owned restaurants. Visitors also flock to the beloved Baseball Hall of Fame, the Fenimore Museum, the Farmers' Museum, and to Otsego Lake, a 9-mile stretch of pristine, glacial blue water, stunningly beautiful in all seasons and home to the majestic Otesaga Hotel and to the renowned Glimmerglass State Park. Our own tiny hamlet of Fly Creek, also on the National Registry, comprises lovely and peaceful countryside, with dairy farms dotting the rolling hills for miles and miles. A wonderful place to relax, unwind, and rediscover nature, this is also great terrain for those who love winter sports. Glimmerglass is an amazing location for those who like to hike, snowshoe, or cross-country ski. Snowmobile trails abound, and there are plenty of people to hook up with for some ice fishing! Bicycles may be rented by appointment at nearby Woodland Cycles. They carry regular, fat tire, and e-bikes. Local terrain is somewhat hilly in places, but totally manageable for fit and serious riders, and also readily manageable on an e-bike for those somewhat less fit and/or serious, like myself! Walking around Fly Creek is also easy, relaxing, and largely traffic-free. Nearby destinations include the old-school Fly Creek General Store, the Fly Creek Cider Mill, adored by young and old alike, and The Buzz, a luxurious new tapas restaurant and bar. Just behind our property runs Oak Creek, a local fishing spot and home to many species including smallmouth and largemouth bass, rock bass, fall fish, chain pickerel, and more. Fly Creek and neighboring hamlets are home to abundant wildlife, with everything from deer and hawks, seen commonly, to coyote and bobcat, seen very rarely. This is an amazing area for birdwatching, with numerous species right out the kitchen window, including chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, hairy and pileated woodpeckers, black-eyed juncos, white-breasted nuthatch, cedar waxwing, and finch of many colors.
