Our 1905 townhouse is a comfortable 3-bedroom home completely renovated top to bottom in 2013 that includes central air conditioning, clotheswasher/dryer, dishwasher, and 13 foot (4+ meter) ceilings on both floors. Size is about 1400 square feet (ca. 130 square meters), plus outdoor space, spread over 2 floors (floors 2 & 3 US; 1 & 2 European). Come home from your NYC adventures and eat dinner on the large tree-lined rear deck off the kitchen, or take the stairs down to your private shaded brick patio and listen to the birds. Maybe you'll fire up the gas or charcoal grill for a BBQ, or perhaps you'll instead walk to one of the many new bars or restaurants in the area. Or let the neighbors think you're a real New Yorker, enjoying a drink, sitting on the front stoop, your front row seat to Brooklyn's lively street life unfolding in front of you. Bushwick, dubbed the 7th coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue, is fast becoming the center of all things Brooklyn-cool, from Maria Hernandez Park to Roberta's Pizza to the L-Train Vintage superstore to House of Yes. Then in 2022, Ridgewood, the neighborhood 4 blocks from us, was named the 4th coolest neighborhood in the world by the entertainiment franchise Time Out...so this is a fun place to be! We are conveniently located near L, M, J, & Z subway stops, with Super-hip Bedford Ave in Brooklyn 27 minutes from your door via subway (even less if you ride your bike to the subway station); Union square in Manhattan is just 7 minutes further on the same subway line. From there all of Manhattan opens up to you. Bushwick gets its energy by bringing together in one neighborhood young people, musicians, and artists together with immigrants from all over the world. To the west of Bushwick sits Williamsburg, the neighborhood that once defined hipsterdom and now has become synonymous with upscale Brooklyn. In another direction lies hip-hop capital Bedford-Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy) with its dynamic Black culture and beautiful tree-shaded streets of 19th Century brownstones. Then to the east sits Ridgewood, Queens, where you'll sometimes swear you've just time-traveled back to a 1950s American Main Street, with small local diners, bakers, dress shops, and fruit stores. -- We are Dan and Marcela, an antiquarian bookseller and art teacher. We will be traveling in 2025 and are looking for a renter to take care of our home while we are away. Thanks!
