We are a family of 4 and I'm based at the University of Amsterdam. We are going for a sabbatical at Stanford University for a full academic year. Because that's far away, we ideally seek for a continuous rental of our dear home for 10 months, from end of August 2024 until end of June 2025 (specific dates could be discussed). Our home is in the center of Amsterdam, in the historic Spaarndammerbuurt, known for its world-famous Amsterdamse School architecture of early 20th century. This brand new house is part of the award-winning 'De Verbinding' project of 2020 (see property links). It combines sustainability with outstanding comfort. It is only a 15-minute walk from the vibrant & international Jordaan neighborhood. This house is perfect for families, especially those with children who can play freely and safely in the approx. 30 m2 (323 sq ft) sunny garden or in the wide and luminous courtyard. The neighbourhood is quiet, child-friendly, safe, and superbly connected. A nearby, frequent-service bus line takes you to Amsterdam Central Station – connecting you to Paris, London, and everywhere else in Amsterdam and in the Netherlands – in just 10 minutes, while the city center is a leisurely 15-minute walk away. Additionally, it's just a stone's throw from the IJ waterfront, perfect for swimming on warm days, and the wonderful Westerpark, where you can jog, play tennis, go horse riding, and enjoy cultural events. You are welcome to borrow our city bikes to move and feel like a real ‘Amsterdammer’. By car, there is a direct connection to the A10 ring road, providing access to all highways. This house is a modern townhouse of approx. 176 m2 (1900 sq ft). It has three floors and a large basement, used as gaming/movie/sports room, equipped with a home theater system and a PlayStation, with a door to the shared underground garage. The ground floor has a spacious open-plan kitchen which flows into a vast living area with a dining table for up to 9 people, an upright piano, a large sofa and a big SMART TV with a soundbar. Floor-to-ceiling windows, approx. 3 meters high, invite natural light and lead to a serene garden terrace on one side (southeast) and a courtyard with the communal herb garden on the other side (northwest). Whenever the sun is shining, we enjoy meals and drinks on either side and can meet with a friendly and diverse neighbors’ community. The kitchen is equipped with top-of-the-line appliances including two ovens, a microwave, an oversized fridge, two freezers, a Nespresso machine, and a Quooker faucet providing instant boiling and sparkling water. Throughout the house, you'll find beautiful wooden floors, adding warmth and charm, and an ultra-modern floor heating/cooling system with mechanical ventilation and electronic climate control in every room. On the first floor, you will find a spacious master bedroom, complete with built-in closet and a designated home office area featuring a separate monitor and docking station. On the opposite side there is a cozy kid's room with a single bed, closet, and desk. Next to it, there is the master bathroom featuring a freestanding bathtub, shower, a separate toilet, and a separate laundry room with a washer and dryer. The second floor offers two additional versatile rooms, ideal for bedrooms or studies – also equipped with (sofa-)beds, closets, desks, a monitor, a printer and a docking station – each boasting expansive balconies. Completing this floor is a convenient shower room with toilet and bidet. Utilities such as electricity, water, and Internet (Wi-Fi)/TV are not included in the price; cost is approx. extra EUR 200 per month. In addition, we kindly ask you to retain our reliable cleaners for bi-weekly care of the house for approx. extra EUR 120 per month. If you wish, we could rent separately our parking space in the shared underground garage for additional EUR 200 per month. We ask for a deposit equal to 1 month rent.
