Venice Townhouse studio is a private and quiet modern space in a Venetian palazzo whose origins date back to about the year 1500. The studio consists of a large living room/bedroom with direct private access from the street (left door shown of this house drawing), just steps from the Grand Canal, the church and campanile of San Samuele and Palazzo Grassi. Venetian terrazzo floors line the main room as well as the kitchen, bathroom and shower walls. The ground floor studio includes a double bed, dining table, and writing desk and is equipped with air conditioning and Internet. The back overlooks a side courtyard of the Teatrino Grassi that is closed to the public and thus very quiet. The studio includes built in wooden closets. The kitchenette has a electric hot plate for two pots, as well as microwave, fridge and design Italian cabinet. Its window overlooks the street. The bathroom has a shower, bidet and compact washing machine. Many generations of merchant families and noblemen have lived in the building, including members of the Venetian Querini and Zen families in the 19th century. In the early 20th century, the richest family in Venice, the Stuckys, owned the house -- as well as the famous Palazzo Grassi-Stucky on the Grand Canal next door. We live here part of the year or use it for family and friends, so we furnish it and treat it as our home, not a rental property for tourists.
