The building is right next to the entrance to the 606 (2.7 mile bike/walk park). It's just a five minute walk from the condo to CTA Blue Line platform (31 minutes to O'Hare/12 minutes to downtown/21 minutes to UIC stop). There's ample free street parking for guests, and the rental includes parking space in a secure garage. Complementing the working gas fireplace, twelve-foot ceilings with floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows literally warm the place in the winter. The light-filled open concept living space is set up with dining, living, and kitchen areas along with a perfect office nook overlooking a window. The fully stocked kitchen has a beautiful marble counter and island. The balcony off the living space is great for morning coffee, a container garden, or working / reading. The bedroom has a queen bed with ample storage, walk-in closet and full bathroom with deep tub. In addition to dishwasher is a new in-unit stacked washer/dryer. The neighborhood is at once quiet and bustling with six unique coffee shops, dozens of restaurants, and other local stores within a five minute walk. In addition two full grocery stores within a 10 minute walk, it's 10 minutes to bike or drive to Trader Joe's. While it's a very urban neighborhood, there is a giant Target a mile away, and Costco is a mile and a half away. If you're a dual career couple moving in, one thing to note is that since the walls don't come all the way to the ceiling (open concept look and feel) you'll need to coordinate Zoom / Teams meetings. By far the highlight is taking in one of the best views of downtown Chicago on the shared rooftop deck, especially at sunset. For some strange reason my neighbors very rarely enjoy it, so it's almost like your own private deck. It's truly an urban sanctuary. I'm taking a full-year sabbatical. I'm looking for someone who will be in the Windy City for the year. Dates may be somewhat negotiable. It's ideal for a one-year visitor, postdoc, or a newly hired professor getting the lay of the land of the U.S.'s third largest city before setting roots.
