The pictoresque castle thrones on a rock ledge above the vineyards, which are ideal for the Riesling grape. The small, historic market town of Senftenberg is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Wachau and Vienna, a bus stop is just 30m from the entrance gate, connecting to Krems and Langenlois. But there is also plenty to discover in the well-known wine-growing community itself and the apartment is an ideal starting point for walks and hikes in the area. There are many places to explore on and around the castle ruins for example and many stories entwine around the centuries old building. Findings from archaeological excavations are on show in the museum room. Inside, cosy vaults invite you to unwind and enjoy the ambience, and the roofed terrace area also provides a wonderful place to sit and have a picnic or a glass of wine. It's pleasant during the day and in the evening. The grounds of the ruin are open and accessible all year round with free admission for viewing, the inside of the castle is by appointment only. It is only a 15-20 minutes walk through a fairytale like oaktree forest to the Senftenberg ruins. Close to the apartment there is a also a large, well-kept 1200m2 garden directly on the river Krems. It is a very calming place in the middle of nature, but yet only 5km from the university town Krems / Stein.
