I'm a retired physician and lived in Durham for two decades, spending most of my time at Duke. My daughter lives in Durham and we created this home for family, friends, and Air Bnb guests. We are interested in offering it to responsible tenants who might want longer term accommodations. The home was built/remodeled in 2022. The original cottage was remodeled into a 3 bedroom wing. A combined living/dining/kitchen space was built and connected to the bedroom wing with a light-filled gallery. All of this surrounds a large private deck. The living space has a vaulted ceiling and an electric fireplace as well as a modern, fully stocked kitchen, a dining table for 6, and comfortable and modern furnishings. Two sliders open onto the deck. The bedrooms each have a queen bed, good light, and ample closet space including a walk in closet in the principal suite. The principal suite also has a full bath, a private patio and a desk as well as a reading nook. The smaller bedrooms are connected by a "Jack and Jill" bathroom. The wing also has a laundry and a half bath. The yard has a mixture of native plants, bird and bee friendly perennials, and a cactus garden. There is no grassy area but several parks and a walking path are within a few blocks. The lot is on a corner One street is moderately busy during commute hours but quiet at other times of day. Directly across the street is an historic cemetery with walking paths and abundant trees and bird life. The other street is a quiet residential one with a mixture of modern construction, modest duplexes, and well-kept older homes. An outstanding coffee shop is a 15-20 minute walk. Ten minutes away there's a small commercial district which includes a restaurant, a well-stocked food co-op, and an a beloved bagel bakery.
