Hello! We're pleased to share our lovely and quirky family home with this community. The home is in a picturesque cove in the "Art Capital of Maine," i.e., the stretch that includes Rockport, Rockland, and Camden. The waterfront house sits on a slope; the front presents as a modest ranch-style home, while the back reveals a two story layout with a deck, large yard, and panoramic views of the cove and the bay beyond. This is a view for sunrises, tide watching, and starry nights. The home is ideal for an individual seeking a quiet retreat for creative or research-based pursuits, or for a family or group of friends looking for a home base from which to explore Midcoast Maine's numerous delights: kayaking, snow skiing, Acadia National Park, sheep and alpaca farms, art museums and galleries, golfing, and more. The kitchen and upstairs living area feature a newly renovated open plan layout with full views of the Bay through picture windows. Three newly painted upstairs bedrooms share a clean but older bathroom with a shower tub. The downstairs bedroom (ground floor in this hillside home) features a fireplace, adjacent office, and private shower bath. The rest of the ground floor is an open plan "family room" with a large TV. Laundry in a full mudroom is also downstairs (with a charming laundry chute from the upstairs linen closet). Access to the beach is via stairs at the neighbor's house (map provided). The Rockland Lighthouse and Breakwater is a beautiful mile walk from the house, plus another 7/8 of a mile along the jetty to the lighthouse itself. We've been sharing this home with family and friends for ages, and are pleased to offer it now to someone in the academic / creative community. We know you will love it as much as we do.
