Our fully furnished, sunny 2 bedroom 1.5 bath Santa Cruz townhome will be available while we are away from UC Santa Cruz for research in Summer and Fall 2024. We are also open to extending the availability through March 2025. It is in a beautifully landscaped community close to UCSC, the beach, West Cliff Drive, Neary Lagoon, and downtown Santa Cruz. On the first floor the large primary bedroom has a memory foam queen bed and two matching night stands with drawers. Sliding glass doors open from the primary bedroom to a furnished patio and a large shared lawn/greenbelt. The smaller second bedroom/office has a very comfortable fold-out couch and a desk. Each bedroom has a large closet. A full bathroom with a big walk-in shower and a laundry closet with a front loading washer and dryer complete the first floor, along with an extra coat and gear closet under the stairs. A sturdy locked shed on the back patio is big enough for two bikes and other outdoor gear. Upstairs an open kitchen features custom walnut cabinets, marble counters, and stainless steel appliances including an induction stove, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge with water filter. There is also a walk-in pantry and half-bath. The open dining/living room has a vaulted ceiling, four skylights, a really warm gas fireplace, and a furnished upper deck looking over the back lawn/greenbelt. There is an upright piano, built-in bookshelves with space for your own books, a stereo with CD player and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 50 inch tv with an Apple TV box ready for your own subscription. There are bamboo floors all throughout the house, with in-floor radiant heating in the downstairs bedrooms. The Shelter Lagoon townhome community is quiet and very well maintained with ample green space and trees, a large heated pool open from Memorial Day until the end of October, two tennis/pickleball courts, and easy walking or biking access to West Cliff Drive and the beaches through the Neary Lagoon wooden boardwalks. There are geese, ducks, and other wildlife in the Lagoon. There is on-site parking for two cars including one assigned, covered carport. We are a 10 minute drive to UC Santa Cruz, a 10-15 minute walk to downtown Santa Cruz, and very close to the new paved bike path (no cars) that runs all the way through Santa Cruz's West Side to the Wilder Ranch beaches and mountain and gravel biking trails. This is our home and not a rental unit so we are looking for someone who will take good care of it and enjoy the house and the location. No smoking or perfume please, small well-behaved dogs considered (sorry no cats). The rent covers full access to the community amenities including the pool and tennis courts.
