Recently renovated and designed by an architect, our elegant apartment is on the top floor (10th) of a typical prewar building (with elevator). There are 2 other units on our floor. The building is home to Columbia faculty (majoritarily) and some graduate students. A door-person is present in the evenings and building staff is there during the day to receive packages. We are one block away from the Columbia gates and Columbia University subway stop on the #1 line. We are also one block away from Morningside Park, an oasis (with public tennis courts). Large arched windows in the living room and bedroom provide unparalleled views and lots of light and air. The apartment is U-shaped, which provides quietness and privacy. It consists of a large dining-living space with track lights that allow you to modulate lighting, and a home cinema (ceiling mounted projector, screen and surround sound. Many artworks (photographs, drawings, prints and paintings) are also hung in this space: we live with art. We are a literature/music professor and a contemporary art curator/critic/editor. Our libraries reflect these practices and will be accessible during your star. The kitchen is fully equipped (dishwasher, microwave, coffee makers, and everything you might need to cook). Free washer and dryer are also in the unit. One of the bathrooms has a large bathtub; the other a glass enclosed shower. The study includes a new double-size pullout couch that can accommodate occasional visitors. It has been designed to grant guests maximum privacy without impeding others' use of the space. The bedroom has a queen-size bed, blackout curtains, and lots of closet space. This apartment is ideal for a couple. It could also suit a couple with an infant. It is not suited for couples with children because the windows do not child guards. $4000/per month, includes utilities and internet. One-month security deposit required (it will be reimbursed promptly when you leave). House manual provided and temporary rental agreement required. Weekly cleaning is mandatory. You will be required to pay the cleaning staff ($175 per week).
