We are retired academics looking to spend a year in Europe. We will consider a stay of 4 months but have a strong preference for 6 months to one year. Our house is ideal for a family. It is an architectural gem, on 3 secluded acres with a pool, a large backyard, a stream, and a 2 car garage. It even has an au pair suite/granny flat with a separate entrance, kitchen, and full bathroom. The main kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need including spices, oil, salt, pepper, sugar, and coffee. There are sliding shoji screen doors should you want to separate the kitchen from the dining room when entertaining. There is a large separate pantry next to the laundry room equipped with a washer, dryer, and laundry tub. Also on the ground floor is an office overlooking the backyard and stream. You will enjoy the large open plan of the living, dining, and music rooms with a stone fireplace, cathedral ceiling, and sliding doors leading onto a gorgeous deck with a BBQ that overlooks the backyard. In addition, there is a big room in the walk-out basement with a large TV we call our movie theater. The master bedroom is on the main floor and has an ensuite bathroom with a 2-person jacuzzi tub and a walk-in closet. The upstairs guest room is next to the library (which is on the balcony overlooking the living room) and has an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The 2 bedrooms downstairs share a bathroom with a tub and shower. All rooms have closets and good storage space. The house is close to everything including some of the best public and private schools in the nation, restaurants, hospitals, colleges, universities, NIH, Astra Zeneca, the biotech corridor and Johns Hopkins University, 3 airports (Wash. DC, BWI and Dulles), public transportation, parks, recreation centers, the soccer plex with indoor pools, outdoor and indoor tennis, and pickleball courts, soccer and baseball fields, biking paths, etc, the C&O canal with its 180-mile bike/walking path along the Potomac River. We are 2 miles from the famous Glenstone Modern Art Museum, a 20-minute drive from Bethesda and Rockville, and a 40-minute drive to downtown Washington, DC with all its famous museums, monuments, etc. *Regular cleaning service is available for an extra fee. *Pool service and lawn and garden service is included. *Utilities and snow removal are not included. *4 to 12-month lease provided with rent adjusted accordingly. *Use of 2 cars negotiable.
